I am staying away from Fresh Market (like a smaller Whole Foods) which is hard because I love that store. But it is just TOO expensive. In fact I went in there last weekend for the first time since Christmas to get some kabobs to put on the grill and did some quick math - I realized it was going to be $24 for enough to feed my family of 4. A year ago I wouldn't have even looked. That day I turned right around and walked out of there with nothing. I have also stopped going to Publix except for a few things I can't get anywhere else, like my particular brand of coffee and the brand of hummus that we all like and occasionally Boars Head turkey. The prices are so much higher than Kroger. It is a bummer because it is literally a mile from my house and I drive by it every day, but oh well. I have been shopping mostly at Kroger which is a good happy medium for me. I can't stand WalMart and we eat a lot of produce and a lot of organic food, and Kroger's prices are pretty good. I have also started buying certain things at Target because I noticed they are consistently cheaper than the grocery store. I never used to buy food there, but I do now.

We were exclusive Costco shoppers for quite awhile. With a busy, large family, I didn't have the energy to search out the coupons and sale prices at my local grocery stores. We spent a few hundred dollars each trip and went about every 1 - 1.5 weeks.

Lately, I have been more into couponing and looking for sales at my Vons before heading over to Costco. There are still things at Costco that we can't get cheaper elsewhere, so we will make a trip a couple of times a month (plus their gas is the cheapest there). But, I'm trying to get most of our stuff at Vons.

Vons also has quite a large organic line that is reasonably priced as well.

We have definately changed where we shop - oh how, I should say --- We have been getting in the habit of going to giant eagle to get gift cards to spend everywhere so that we can get the fuel perks! Then we have been shopping at Aldi a bit more & we are throwing SuperWalMart back into our mix. We had stopped going there because it seemed like all the prices were going up & we weren't saving as much - but until we really stopped to do the math, prices were rising at the same time everywhere else too What do you do? The prices just in the last week are incredible! Gas at $3.79 a gallon & my grocery bill went up like $5 in just the last week & a half... oh well... what can you do? just have to cut other places as well.

No - I haven't really changed where I shop, but I do shop more fastidiously for loss leaders, freebies after coupons, etc.

Left to his own devices, DH just shops at the local grocery store with no regard to my coupons or their sales. This week, he totally went overboard, since I slacked off since it was my bday and mom's day. I don't really want to think about how much he spent on gifts, cards, food and dinners for me. I appreciate it, but ouch!

Today is get back on track day. If I take care of all the food, he doesn't ever go to the store. I got my coupons, my ads, my Aldi's paper, and I'm ready to meal plan!

I try to stay out of other stores. I do need to get some more jeans, since I've lost more weight from baby, and I think I'm about a size or two smaller than my pants are...but that's why they invented belts!
Was your birthday on Mother's day this year? Mine was the day after. Anyway I shop at Walmart and Meijer. I get 10 percent off at Walmart because DH works there although it doesn't cover food. Sometimes it will take off ten percent of the food they carried before they were superWalmart. Anyhow I do like going to Aldi's but it is 25 minutes away so I only go there if I am going to visit my mom in the same town. I get generic everything and don't buy very much junk food. Ice cream I do buy often but rarely any chips or cookies. I do buy tortilla chips and fruit snacks and sometimes pop. When I had food stamps it seemed to be easier to budget because you only get a certain amount each month and we did what we could to make it last. Now I still get them but only 22 dollars a month so I use it for healthy snacks like yogart and cheese sticks and some meat for main dishes.
