We had central air installed in 1998 during a remodel. We have ceiling fans in our great room, dining room and bedroom.

We were are in SoCal, it doesn't get that uncomfortable that much to warrant running the AC all the time (plus it's WAY too expensive). We'll only run it about 5-8 times max during the summer. It goes on when it reaches 83 degrees in the house.

My mom is in her 80s and can't stand the heat. We'll have her over and run the AC for her.

Most of the time, it's just the ceiling fans.

We use fans. Just the oscillating kind. We don't have any ceiling fans. I don't have anyone to install one.

For the past couple of summers we (FI and me) would sometimes go to the mall or the library on really hot days.

Where I work now the AC has to be pumped up because of equipment (a printing plate processor). If it gets too hot the laser will stop working properly, and the image wont burn correctly onto the plate.

Mosty fans. The AC stays off unless some of our spoiled relatives are visiting. I HATE having all the windows closed-up.

We don't have central air. We have a pretty powerful A/C unit in our living room window that we will run if it gets hotter than about 80 degrees. Otherwise we will use ceiling fans, box fans and open windows to cool the house. Our rec room is downstairs and we spend alot of time down there anyway. It's where the computer and TV with cable is. It's very cool and comfortable, most of the time hanging out downstairs with a occillating fan is just right.

Both - ceiling fans are on all the time, AC is on auto when the temp goes above 82 inside the house. I leave all the doors and windows open generally.

Ceiling fans and central air. Some times it gets up to 110° here in the summer. I have always been with central air, my whole life, it would be a struggle without. I try to keep the a/c off for as long as possible. I just can't do fans with the boys, yet. We have a HUGE shade tree over our house, so I'm hoping when they are old enough to understand that they can't put their fingers in the fans, we can use them more and a/c less.

I have window fans, that have 2 little fans in them. I can blow air out and during the cooler night blow air in. I do have 2 A/C units and will use them if I need to, but usually I pull all my blinds closed on the south side of the house during the day and use fans. I don't care what my neighbors think with my blinds closed. My house isn't steaming. LOL!

Depends on how hot it is. We use ceiling fans all the time. We don't have central air (our house is too old, no duct work), but we have a large ac on the main floor that cools all that floor. We have a smaller ac in my dd's room upstairs and we use a fan to move the cool air from dd's room to the boys room.
