We use both AC and fans...we keep the AC set on 78 degrees, to take the humidity out and fans to blow the "cool" around.

We don't have AC. Most of the homes around here don't. But, when the forecast calls for a hot day, we just keep all the shutters and blinds closed and use the oscillating fans. It stays pretty cool that way.

We definitely use the a/c. It would be almost impossible in Florida to not use it. LOL

We don't have central a/c. I use the window a/c units when it is above 85. My girls have eczema and they start to break out when they are sweaty.

When we bought our 2-story house, we were very fortunate that the previous owners had put in 2 AC units, one for upstairs and one for the downstairs. When we had the house inspection, the house inspector said that either one of the units would have been sufficient for the whole house. Neither one of the units has to work too hard to cool their designated areas and that keeps our electric bill relatively low. We have ceiling fans in our bedroom and guest room and playroom, but we plan on putting ceiling fans in the kids bedrooms to circulate the air upstairs. In florida with the high humidity, you need both AC and fans.

I live in South Texas and the A/C is a must. Ours is always on auto and all the ceiling fans are always on. Today the heat index is 96.
