We use fans mostly. There are very few weeks that A/c is needed here and our apartment gets no sun anyway. We have a window unit that we picked up for $65 that we use on the hottest of nights to help sleep. Even so, our electric bills were only $42 and $44 last Aug and Sept.

Both, we keep the central unit on auto, but we keep the ceiling fans in the living room, dinning room and back bedroom on low.

AC mostly as it gets way to hot to not use it. We also use ceiling fans to help circulate the cool air.

Depends... If it is blistering hot out, I put the AC on... But right now the ceiling fans are just on, AC off, and windows open... I shut the windows when it comes to be about 78 degrees out, then I cant handle the heat, cause its a humid heat... Then I cut the AC on about 75 degrees, and it brings the humidity in the house down... But I am known to not run the AC, and DH will come home and scream its HOT IN HERE. I'm comfortable LOL..

central air....once you have it, you can't go back! every room is cooled evenly, no spots or thrings blowing around, set the programmable timers. We installed it 13 years ago and I've never regretted it.

We do both...we have central air that we do use when it gets REALLY hot, otherwise, we like to have open windows + fans.

We had ceiling fans at our old house and I just started to really dislike them over time...so here at our new house, we don't have any. I much prefer the way it looks. Each bedroom has a 'desktop' type oscillating fan, and it's working much better for each person in their bedrooms.

We're not home much during the hot part of the day in the summertime...we're always outside, at the pool, doing things etc If we are home and it's hot, and we have to be inside, the kids play in the basement (where it's comfortable all through the summer).

AC and ceiling fans on extremely hot days, other mild days just the fans.

I try and use the central air only when it's going to be 88 or higher, otherwise we have ceiling fans in almost every room. Another tip is to play in the basement....almost always cooler down there.
