We hardly ever ate out as a kid. The only time we did was when we went to the big city for my orthodontist appointments. Other than that we never ate out!

As a kid I can recall eating out at a sit down restaurant as a family a few times when we were traveling. My mom took us through the drive-thru every so often if we had a doctor appointment. We ordered pizza and that was a big deal, but mostly my parents made home cooked meals.

We go out to eat about 3 times a month. I try to cook at home as much as possible.

I definitely eat out more as an adult than as I did as a child. I grew up in a single parent household(my father had died), so we didn't have money to eat out very often. The only time we did was when we went to a bigger city, and that was only every 2 or 3 months.(I grew up in rural Minnesota.) Now, I live in a bigger city with many different fast food options, so there's more temptation and a little more money to do it.

Oh yeah! My mom was a single mom and we lived across the street from my grandmother who cooked most of my dinners. We did go to subway alot for weekend lunches and Wendy's/McDonalds occasionally for fast food and Shipleys for Donuts, that's about all I remember growing up.

Ask my dd where she wants to eat and she'll say 1 of 3 places: PF Changs, Outback or Red Lobster. Yup thanks to mom and dad loving 'em my kids are spoiled when it comes to eating out! We have cut back alot but we still eat out alot compared to most-around a couple times a week. It's a norm here instead of special.

We never ate out when I was a kid, my mom cooked everything, and made all our school lunches. We don't eat out much, maybe once a month.

We never, ever, ever ate out as kids. Every once in a GREAT while we might get McDonald's as a huge treat, but we NEVER got to go in!

I would say that it is about equal......we never ate out when I was a child, and I never take my family out!


It is way too expensive for a large family to eat out....it is much cheaper to eat at home.

We eat out more now.

We ate out alot when I was growing up. Of course there were only 4 of us. It is quite expensive and a hassle to take my whole crew out. We get take out more than eating out.

My dh and I do eat out every Wednesday, but not with the kiddos.

we eat out way less than when i was a kid we used to eat out 2 times a week when i was a kid. its more of a treat for my kids then it was for me.
