Have you picked up a new hobby this year to try and be more frugal? Have you started sewing anything, or are you better about mending things like buttons, replacing zippers, etc. Have you started riding your bike instead of driving places? Has anyone tried gardening for the first time this year?

For the first time I planted peas and green beans in the back yard and in containers I bought at Lowe's.

I try to walk every where I can. I don't buy my kids or myself new clothes unless it is something I\ they need that I can't find used. I get magazines from the library instead of buying a bunch. I try to plan meals when I go to the grocery store and I make lists. I am going to do Angel Food Mimistries. I also am trying to use up my scrapbooking supplies I have before I buy more.

I am planting a gigantic garden this yr, we are trying to eat healthier as a family and my girls LOVE vegetables. Weird I know! I figured it would be cheaper then me having to run to the store which is 45 minutes away for fresh veggies weekly. I think by doing this I will be able to get away with 1 shopping trip per month. WOOOHOOO!!!

I go to the libraray every other week now, for books and videos. And since it's right on the way to my dd's gymnastics, it's convenient and saves money on gas.

I'm also trying to make alot of my own natural Christmas ornaments this year. I got a free food dehydrator on freerecycle.com and want to make little fruit swags.

Looks interesting. What is the benefit to upside down gardening? Seems that you could keep that bucket right side up and still grow a tomato plant in it.

My new hobby for the year has became massive coupon clipping! I always tried to use coupons before, but as of this year, I've began planning my shopping based on my coupons, not the other way around.

I'm sewing, instead of buying new jeans for dh, I patched his holes, lol. I just finished a quilt for Bob, but I am not sure it was much cheaper than a bed spread I could buy at the store. I am also going to start on a quilt made from old clothes, which would be frugal, since the clothes are already paid for.

We have a garden this year, not much, but we are really still just experimenting. Next year we are going to plant the big one, lol.
