Necessity when first married, then choice, and now necessity again as we've got two kids to put through college at approximately the same time.

At the moment we are frugal out of necessity. I would like to think that we will continue living like this once we pay off debt and I go back to work full time.

Up until last week, we lived frugally by choice. Now its by necessity since DH was laid off.

Right now since I went from full-time to part-time work it is more out of necessity. But honestly, it was a trade off i was eager and willing to make to have all the extra time with my family. And i truly found that i love the frugal way of life! We have more in savings now than we did when more money was coming in, and coupons and bargain shopping have become addicting!!!

So, even when it is no longer a necessity, i will still chose the "Frugal" way of life!!! Thank you to all of you who have taught me all your amazing frugal tips and tricks!

I use to be by choice but now it's because I think I need to be with the prices going up.

necessity. we would starve otherwise. but we are trying to live simply by choice in addition to frugality out of necessity. there are only so many things i can keep in my head at a time and since we intend to have children in the near future i want to get rid of our grown up clutter before we have to learn how to deal with baby clutter as well. every item i donate, use up and dont replace because it wasnt necessity in the first place, or choose not to bring into my life is one less thing i have to think about.

i plan on being frugal forever because it helps keep things simple for me and it will help us pay off our accrued credit card debt from not being frugal. i would rather upgrade what we need to have than have a dozen of the same crappy thing. i'm thinking of going without a cell phone, minutes run out on sunday, give me strength to not buy more!

I have always been frugal by choice. And I have no idea where I learned it because my parents sure weren't when I was growing up. My dh is not always on board with my frugal ideas. Oh well...through alot of planning and thinking of clever ways to stretch a dollar I've been able to be frugal enough for the both of us.

I'm frugal by necessity. I, myself, started when I was in college, scraping by on student loans. I needed to be frugal to survive. Now I'm making pretty good money for just graduating, but I still need to be frugal, so I wouldn't have enough money to pay back those loans.

Growing up my family had always been pretty frugal, buying generics, not eating out.

I am WAHM so we are frugal by choice (although not nearly as frugal as most on here but I am learning!). I came to this site to get ideas on saving money in hopes that I can one day be a SAHM. If we were a one income family, frugality would definitely be more of a neccessity.

i would say we are by necessity and choice.. we wanted me to stay home so in order to do that frugal is the way.. now it is also for the simple fact we used to live way beyound our means and are digging ourselves out so it really is both.
