I went there today, and I'm glad i got some info from here before i went, since i had no idea about the quarter/cart thing and you should bring your own bags, which i try to do when i go to the stores now anyway, but good to know....anyway, i got 7 items for 7.94. not bad... i will go back.

it's funny because i have seen the sign for the place but never knew what it was until i saw it on this website and it's kind of in back of some stores that i frequent and i never really knew it was there.... i will have to show my mom when she visits too, she would like that.

There are a few things from Aldi that my family does not care for.....but only a few!!!

I highly recommend it..........but remember to bring CASH/debit card......they do not accept a check or credit card.

You will also need a quarter to "rent" a cart....you get it back when you return the cart.
Yes! Do a secret switch on him!
I love Aldi! I can get a cart full of groceries for very little $$$!

I can't really think of anything I've had that I didn't like. Like a previous poster said, their brand of chips/snacks are kind of salty, but they do carry name brands of snacks all the time - they just rotate them out, so you might not be able to get the same thing in two weeks when you come back. Their cereal is cheaper, I agree, and I think tastier (though I have to confess, we've only tried the stars cereal that's a ripoff of Lucky Charms). Their bread goods (bread, bagels, cakes, etc) are good (and big bagels!). If your husband likes fish, check out their rotating selection of frozen fish this time of year. I just bought DH some garlic herb Mahi Mahi and I was ready to eat it even though I hate fish -- it smelled that good! DH loved it and wants me to pick up more, so I hope it's still there. Their ice cream bars are good. DH likes their frozen fruit bars better than Breyer's/Edy's ones. There is a double money back guarantee so tell your DH that if you buy something and it's really just too awful, you can take it back and get twice your money for it.

I do agree with the prices - chocolate chips are 99c a bag! (and taste the same as the name brand) Sour cream is $1. Their produce is excellent and very inexpensive in comparison to other stores. Bagels - 99c. Cereal <$2. Juice <$2. Fresh mushrooms 8oz/$1.

We love Aldi. I buy everything there that I can except for fresh produce. I keep a price list and it just doesn't pay to shop elsewhere unless I've got coupons. Some of the products others mentioned they don't care for are some of our favorites so I would say try it. You've really got nothing to lose.

Bring cash the first time rather than planning on a debit card. They only take a few and I've been in line behind new timers a few times who found out the hard way and were scrambling for cash.

Thanks everyone for your responses and tips. It's been a very busy week for us but I'd like to get to Aldi's tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

I showed DH how high our last grocery bill was and told him that we should at least give Aldi's a try. He finally agreed.

I'll post my experience after I go.

That is exactly how I got dh convinced that Aldi's deserves a chance from us. Now we shop there FIRST then get what we couldn't at Walmart.

He's a FAN of everything we've gotten from there!! I'm so thankful! It's saved us $200/mo!
