There's an Aldi's about 15 - 20 minutes from our house. Their website looks pretty good, but I've never visited one. DH is balking at the possibility of me getting some of our groceries from there. (I love him to pieces, but he can be a "brand name pain" even at our regular grocery store!) I asked him how could he not like something if he hasn't tried it.
Anyway, I plan on going next week to "browse" and if there is something that's a bargain I will get it. There's very few products I'm brand loyal about.
For those of you that shop there, what's your opinion? Is it worth it? Do you shop there weekly, monthly or something else?

I go there about 2x/month. It's 4 miles from me. It is owned by Trader Joe's, and everything there is guaranteed if you don't like it. I've never returned anything. The only thing I've had I didn't like is the american cheese slices. Believe me - if you go, your DH will not know the difference. Their potato/snack chippy things are kind of salty, but their version of wheat thins/triscuits/graham crackers are just the same and less than half the price.
I generally go when I need dairy items (milk/creamer/sour cream/cottage cheese/regular cheese/eggs) and then come out w/ a bunch of other stuff too. DO get their chocolate.

If he is a "brand snob", you could try buying the Aldi version and putting it in the "name brand" container and I bet he likes it. MANY of the Aldi foods are made by the EXACT company that makes the name brand stuff, they just change the label.
There are a few things from Aldi that my family does not care for.....but only a few!!!
I highly recommend it..........but remember to bring CASH/debit card......they do not accept a check or credit card.
You will also need a quarter to "rent" a cart....you get it back when you return the cart.

I love Aldi's. I get most of my things there. The only thing I have noticed a difference in taste in is their canned green beans. I am going to try their meat next time I need some (my grocery store has it on sale this week AND I have a coupon - woo hoo!). If you can get past being loyal to name brands, you will save quite a lot of money.

Most of the things that I have bought at Aldi's taste just like the name brand. We have a few things in our house that we will only get name brand(mac and cheese, etc.), but Aldi's brands are very good also.
As the above posters have said, bring cash or a debit card and a quarter for the cart. I also bring a laundry basket to put my groceries into when I'm done shopping. I do think you can purchase bags there, or you could bring in your own bags too. Hope you enjoy shopping there!

It's great for staples like canned foods, flour, milk, eggs, etc. Our Aldi has a "Special Promotions" section in the center that does offer name brand items, typically a lot of frozen food items like Kid Cuisine, etc. My first trip there I wasn't overwhelmed - it has no ambiance and their product selection is very shallow. Don't forget to bring cash (they don't accept checks or credit cards) and your own bags (they charge for theirs). Plus, you'll need a quarter to rent a cart.
However, their prices are what is really impressive. Here's more information:

They have a policy that if you don't like something you can return it and get your money back (it's in the form of an instore coupon type of deal) so your dh isn't really out anything if there is a product he doesn't like.
The only things I stay away from are the cottage cheese, shredded cheese, and spaghetti sauce.

*comes out from lurking*
I, too, will chime in on the greatness of Aldi's. I've got 3 kiddos at home and we could not make it without shopping at Aldi's. My hubby has every Friday off of work and makes a run into the "big city" where the Aldi's is located. He also goes to Wal-Mart and grabs diapers and formula for the baby, too, but that's a whole other discussion. :P Anyway, I love Aldi's. I will agree with the other poster that said the cheese slices weren't the best, but if you put 'em on a grilled cheese the kiddos won't know the difference. Their selection has improved over the last 7-8 years since I started shopping there. They've got great spice grinders for the grill, pasta, etc. that I recommend highly. Cereal is completely cheaper there by far than a regular supermarket or chain, IMO. I really can't say enough about how great I think it is, but that's just me.
Let us know how it works out and once your DH sees how much you're saving he might not be so picky.

LOL! Thank you! You're entirely too kind. I just usually pop in with my 2 cents when I see something that I'm familiar with or comfy talking (posting) about. But, thanks for the warm welcome.
