I know that they have to pass the buck so to speak. They are getting hit with higher prices but really.... I think I would have made a point of letting them know what their menu states and that is what I am willing to pay.

On another note I bought whole wheat flour the other day for 2.49 a bag which was the same price as white flour and I like whole wheat more anyway. But when I went back to buy another bag it was 3.89 a bag. What happened there?

That is pretty expensive for coffee and bagels! I don't really buy breakfast out anymore since I stay at home, but I noticed some pretty big price increases when my dh took me to Longhorn's for Mother's Day. They had updated their menu, and it was quite a bit more than the last time we ate there! The prices everywhere are getting crazy! I would be buying my bagels at the store like some of the other ladies suggested if I were you.

The menu was completely down so there were no prices up at all, no old ones nor new ones. I gave the owner a piece of my mind in the most polite way possible but I think he got my point. I told him had those prices been posted I would have never paid them and it was not fair to me as the consumer to not have been made aware of the extremely high outrageous new prices. Live and learn...I will never go there again and like I said we usually have coffee and toast or some sort of breakfast at home anyway.

That's insane!
At our local bagel store, we get a bagel w/cream cheese for under $2 and a small coffee for about $1.30.

I totally understand your frustration with food prices. As a restaurant owner I constantly feel price increases on us by our suppliers. Just to have a truck come in the back door with supplies can cost an extra $3- $5 for fuel surcharges. Most small restaurant owners only raise prices once a year. While our food costs change almost daily or weekly from the last time we ordered food. Where I live my health department food permit jumped last year from $250 p/year to $650 p/ year. Plus they made every restaurant install a grease trap @ $2500, plus they came up with this great new permit for the stupid grease trap that costs an extra $200 per year. People just think we raise prices because we can but thats just not the case, its needed to survive and support our family. I have rent, employees, taxes, bookkeeping, insurance, food, pest control, laundry service and my list goes on and on.
After our work was done Memorial Day, we all went out to eat at Applebees and yes the items on their menu went up $1.50 - $2.00 more!!! I only raise my prices .20 to .30 cents each year on certain items. So I feel your pain I'm not sure bagels and coffee should be near $10 and yes prices should be posted but maybe thats what they need to charge to survive. JMO

I try not to buy food when I'm out. I take stuff with me as it's so much cheaper when you make it yourself.

I have noticed that the prices are going up everywhere.

I was in Publix (grocery store) and noticed all of their baked goods were higher than usual. A particular bun I enjoy because it freezes well jumped from $2.50 for 8 to $4!! I am not spending 50 cents a bun when no one really notices the difference anyway except me.

I don't think it is I guess it depends where you live. Anyways I don't buy coffee often I avoid places like starbucks because it is way expensive for the quality of coffee that they sell!
That's what you pay overthere for 2 coffee!

I don't buy coffee, but I buy cereal. Have you noticed that the price is either still the same or higher and the box is smaller??? Same thing with ice cream!!! If you're going to decrease the quantity, lower the price, too!

I took my own travel mug of coffee into target today as opposed to paying for Starbucks...I am sooo trying to be good.
