In another attempt to save money have you made a conscience decision to cut back on the amount of spring/summer clothes you are getting for yourself or for your kids?

I'm altering a couple of my plain t-shirts because I'm bored with them, but they're not worn out yet. I've shortened the sleeves, hem and neckline and added a crocheted edging. I'd love to have more/new clothes every season, but it's just not possible.

I have cut back significantly! My oldest is obsessed with clothes and I only got her 1 pair of shorts and 2 new tank tops (her clothes from last year still fit her nicely), my youngest got 4 new sundress and I only got 1 new tank top. Typically we spend around $200 on new clothes for each season- but so far this year only around $75 (including new sandals!).

I figure we aren't going to be going anywhere this summer, so I really only need one nice/public outfit -- which I have. We only bought what was necessary -- three pairs of shorts and new tennies for DS.

I bought DD new sandals, Kellan some new water shoes (those I got cheap at the Goodwill As is but they were new from Target). I might get myself some new sandels but I typically buy clothes from yardsales and Goodwill. I might venture into Steve and Barry's sometime but for right now we are good. The kids are at least all set for summer.

well we spent good money on shoes for all 3 kids (they all have no arches in there feet) but i got a bogo sale so for 2 pairs tennis shoes 2 pair sketcher calli gear sandals for about 89 bucks then grandpa bought dd 2 pairs of sandals so that was free.

as for clothes both boys could wear a couple outfits from last year so we just got a few more so they have enough for a week more shirts than shorts. then dd got 6 tank tops from sil and 3 t-shirts from my sister so i only bought her a couple shirts and some shorts and 4 pairs i got at goodwill for 1.38 a piece...

so total we have only spent about 270.00 on 5 people(dh got some shorts and t-s as well and i got 2 pair flip flops) so i don't think that is bad at all. if you divided it out per person thats only 54 bucks a piece.

well with my growing belly I have had to buy some new clothes!!
and I noticed dd only has 2 pair of shorts!! I really do not want to have to make sure they are washed every day!! oldest dd has skorts that work forher! tho I think she still could use another pair of shorts!!

Our kids have stopped growing, so they're wearing the same clothes as the past two years. Neither minds doing this, as they both hate shopping (how lucky can I be?) LOL. I keep wearing the same stuff until it falls apart, and only have half a closet's worth.

When I got a new job recently, I was thrilled we had uniforms. No special clothes to buy, and they furnish the shirts! Not having to buy a wardrobe for work is nice, and the uniform is nice looking too.

If any of us gets new clothes, it's usually dh. He's got 3X the clothes as the rest of us.

Me, too! Turning them into tank tops and whatnot. Also, I've started making summer shirts out of pilowcases. There's just enough fabric there, and a pillowcase at the Salvation Army costs 25 cents!
