In your home who is the voice of reason when it comes to shopping/spending money? Who stops and says "now do we really need this? If you are the voice of reason do you have to rein in your significant other/spouse quite a bit? Do they listen to you?

I'm the voice of reason, most of the time, I think. DH is pretty good most of the time, but he, like me, hs our things we can get carried away with in spending.

We take turns. One of us always has to be the bad guy.

Me. If I tell DH that I'd like a new this or that, his response, almost guaranteed, is, "Then go get one."

ME, hands down. I'm the one who makes clothing out of pillowcases and bed sheets, and he's the one who owns every stupid little tool known to man, even tho most of them are unused. Both his parents had the attitude of "if you want it, go get it", while mine don't waste anything and rarely, if ever, indulge their fancies. But he's gotten much, much better about reigning in the spending. I'm always very gentle when I suggest that he wait to get something he wants, and he usually listens to me. I don't pick at it often, tho, just on badly-timed/larger purchases.

9 times out of 10 it's me. Though DH is stepping up a bit more in that area. It's a team effort.

It really depends- for the most part it is me but DH has a way of doing that when it comes to getting things for the girls and myself- yet if he wants a tool or something else that I feel is ridiculous- he usually will find a way of getting it- drives you nuts!

This is my household too! It is nice ~ we keep eachother balanced!!! But sometimes when we are both on the same "lets buy" end, it is a recipe for disaster!

We take turns.. he is bad about going overboard- if he wants something he will just buy it. No matter what it cost. I on the other hand will shop reduced prices. I like to get more for my money. To him- I always ask if we need something.. To me- He ask do we need that much.
