Well my clothes washer finally died yesterday. I started a load & it filled with water & just kept filling! Cleaning up all that water was not fun! At least we were downstairs when it happened, even if I would have been upstairs or had started it before I left home, OMG I can't even think of what kind of a mess that would have been! Anyway, I told my husband that we are not fixing our washer anymore. We have 5 kids so I will definetely be getting a large capacity one, hopefully that will cut down on the loads a little! What brand/kind of washer do you have? I need some suggestions...

I have been very happy with my LG. I also bought a LG dishwasher which is currently having some problems and when I contacted their tech phone number they were VERY helpful. I was very surprised. And the guy I spoke with actually was an English speaker.

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3t, and I LOVE it. It's a front loader, and it can hold a king size comforter. It definitely cut down on my water bill and detergent.

Have a Whirlpool Duet and am very pleased with it. Got it 3 years ago - knock on wood. I personally am not a big fan of the touch screen ones - I prefer knobs. Also, I guess you are going for the front loader.

We just got a new one on Tues. Ours died too and as a fellow family of 5, I know what you mean about needing a large one! We got a Whirlpool Cabrio. It's a top loader, but 4.2 capacity. Bigger than the front loader and for the washer and dryer, $1,000 cheaper than buying the Whirlpool Duet, plus two pedastals. I like it so far. Here's a link to it:

Whirlpool - Cabrio 4.5 Cu. Ft. 10-Cycle Super Capacity Plus Washer - White - WTW6400SW

I just got a front loading steam washer from LG. It was one of the highest rated front-loading energy efficient washers listed in Consumer Reports. The other highly rated front loader was the Whirlpool Duet but that one is more expensive and actually not as big.

I've only done a couple loads in my LG so far but I've been happy with it. The reduction in water and energy use will be a nice bonus too.

We had to replace our washer at the end of December last year, We went with a top loading Maytag, performa series, I love it! Three months later we had to buy a dryer, we bought the matching dryer to our washer. So far we are happy with both of them!

Oh, Jess, that sucks! I have a used one I got from my dad, I think it's an old whirlpool. IF I were to get a new one I want a front load! I don't know if I care what brand, though. Good Luck finding one and let us know what you think of yours when you do!

I would def. go for a HE model. They use so much less water and energy. They make front loaders and top loading HE machines. My MIL has a top loader HE Whirlpool, she hasn't been to happy with it. She bought it several years ago when HE first got big. She said she can't put many clothes in because they don't get clean and soap sticks on them. Because of the problems she has had when we have to buy I am going to buy a front loading HE machine.

I have an older machine (at least 8 years old) But I have looked at new ones because I know its only a matter of time before the old ones will die (we have had some warning signs).

I want an energy efficient model that uses substantially less water -- I don't care if its top loading or front loading. The ones I have seen mosly are front loaders and I am being totally silly, but I like the colors of the LG series. I dont' need a colored machine I just think its pretty.
