My dh is an audiophile, big time! But, he does wait and price things. For example, he has been salivating over a big screen tv for years now. Instead of buying one when they were super expensive, he researched them for almost two years and we just bought one at Thanksgiving. And that was only because I told him I was tired of him pricing them and to just buy it!

He did get a good deal on it. So, he will talk about it for awhile while we research it and wait for the prices to fall.

We had our last cell phones for almost four years and we only replaced those because my battery wouldn't hold a charge over two hours. The store couldn't believe we were still using those.

Me? I wait till the old one dies then I go buy something cheap - example - my cell phone. FINALLY died so I went and got the $30 phone with the $30 rebate!

DH? Buys it the minute it comes out - example - he was the 1st person to buy an iphone at the cingular store in our town. He actually drove by the store a couple times that day and finally got in line when he noticed the line start to grow. He was the 7th in line and they let the 1st 7 in at a time, but because he'd reasearched it SO much and knew exactly what he wanted he was the first one done. In and out in no time! They even took his picture and when he left the store, everyone left in the line cheered!

We finally got a new laptop about a year or so ago when our old computer broke and now DH is working on me to get an apple laptop. I don't think we need it (ok, I KNOW we don't need it) but he just HAS to have it. Basically we upgrade our new electronic toys when DH can talk me into it. I've told him he can buy his new laptop when we get my van paid off, and the Fully funded Emergency Fund done. Hopefully by then he'll have forgotten about it! (yeah right)

we also wait until things die.. its just not worth it to me to shell out tons of money on new stuff when new technology is out so frequently.

Well, lets put it this way. I have a 16-bit Sega Genesis, and when I want to play video games, I play Sonic. Yeah, I'm that advanced! (If I had an Atari, I'd play that!)

We wait until stuff dies to replace. I killed the display on my previous cell phone by dropping it into a cup of Dr. Pepper and after it dried out, used it (without a display) for a little while until it could be replaced.
