I thought it would be easier if we posted weekly how we did with the saving money on gas challenge. So for the first week how many days did you not drive at all? Did anyone walk, bike, carpool, or use public transportation? Did you stop and think before you just ran an errand?

I have one day where I did not drive at all -- Monday. Then today I only drove to the doctor (about 15 miles round trip). I also telecommuted today instead of going into the office and saved myself the 75 mile round trip work costs. (A net savings of 60 miles!! or 2.3 gallons of gas!! or nearly $9!!)

I am going to keep my weekend driving down too because I want to clean out the garage!!

I have had to drive everyday. But even with that I mentally mapped out my trips and it was straight there and straight back. And I ran all of my trips together. So I'm not completely unhappy with my attempts of saving gas. Not to mention my husband biked 2 days this week, couldn't pull it off on the other three, and hasn't had to fill up on gas since last week!

I was only able to park my Suburban 1 day this week. We went to the zoo, grocery store & Target. I'm hoping to park it Sat & Sun. I am still using my tank fillup from 5/14. I'm hoping to get a full month out of it!!! It is my own personal challenge.

I didn't drive on Monday, and on the other days, I tried to get all my errands done in one loop of the town, without leaving my car running in between. I think I'm doing well.

I have only "parked it" one day, Monday. I have definitely given thought to all my outings though and have planned my trips to lump things together. Today is grocery shopping day and that should be my only driving today. I'm going to plan my route so it is the shortest, most efficient route. I'm not so sure how well I'll do Saturday though. There are a few things around town (free once I get there) that I would like to take my boys to.

I am so mad I was doing great till yesterday- I had a hair appointment after work- I drove 15 miles to it one way... sat at the wrong salon that was closed for 20 minutes than drove home grrrrrr
now I have to go back today-
I wouldnt normally go get my hair done professionally, but I tried to highlight my own and now it is orange....
so to save money i am goin to my old hairdresser who charges like nothing... compared to all the other hair places

but one up thing this week- normally we go 2 hours away for my youngest eye doctor since he has a eye condition.. but I found that he is at a closer office only 25 min away- so I was able to save that milelage

Our Caravan had been parked for 2 days (Wed. and Thurs.) although we are going out for dinner tonight. I am going to be saving a ton of gas this summer, as school is now out and the school where I teach is about 25 miles from my home.

I only drove one day, Wednesday to get groceries. We walked the rest of the week.

Edited: Ok, we drove today to the museum. I didn't want to walk on the highway, lol.
