Grocery Forum – Coming Soon!

We would like to get a Grocery Bargains forum started at Mommysavers… but we need YOUR help! The forum’s purpose will be to bring you the inside scoop on which grocery deals are the hottest, which manufacturers’ coupons can be combined with in-store deals which recipes go well with those bargains, plus other great tips for getting the most for your money at the store.

In order for this to be a success, we’ll need volunteers to post deals for the stores in your area. We’re especially interested in finding volunteers for the stores listed below. If you’re interested in being assigned to a store, let me know via PM. Once we get at least 10 stores covered, we’ll start the new forum. If you have over 500 posts, you can also apply to be a moderator. Here’s a link to the application

The duties of the volunteers within this forum will be:
Post deals from their assigned store at least once a week
Be informed of weekly in-store sales
Give insider shopping information
Post information about at least 5-10 in-store deals and the coupons needed to get them
Answer questions from members about in-store deals
Post recipes or link to recipes that go well with grocery bargains of the week (optional)
Post menu plans (optional)

Volunteer Privileges
By volunteering, we’ll add you to a new usergroup we’re creating. You’ll get to create a custom username as your title as well as have more storage for PMs in your inbox.

What about the commissary for the military members? They don't have a lot of the sales like the larger stores, but with coupons you can get a lot of items free and they allow overage on coupons. There are also case lot sales.

Are all the commissary sales the same from base to base? If yes, that's a good suggestion.

I'm not sure about the case lot sales, I think they have them the same weekends but it depends on the vendors and location of the commissary as to what is available. However most of the prices are the same commissary to commissary so there are deals to be shared for nearly free, free and overage deals.

I appreciate all the suggestions for additional stores but what we really need here is volunteers to make this work. I've had two PMs from people volunteering to help... thank you! But we still need several more helpers in order to turn this idea into a reality. If you want to volunteer to help with one of the stores you've suggested, please let me know.

Pic-N-Sav here in Brewton, Alabama usually has better deals than Wal-Mart. They had 24 pk. can cokes for $3.75 while Wal-Mart had them for $5.98. No card or coupon required. Super Foods is also in my area but they are about as expensive as a Bruno's.
I will volunteer to tell about Pic-N-Sav but I'm not sure if any of the members have one in their area and could benefit from it.
I did a search for it and found some of their locations:
Brewton, AL
Pace, FL
Milton, FL
One in SC somewhere but did not specify
I could not find a store locater to tell me of where they all are.

Not exactly sure what you are looking for in a volunteer. Do you have a list of items that you would like us to report on or do you want to see what is on sale? Just in the circular or do you want us to visit the store to see the other items at the beginning of the week that are on sale but are not listed in the circular? I have a Giant Eagle/Sam's Club/Acme/Aldi that I shop at regularly. I am willing to help with those, but I am not at all of the stores every week. (I guess that is why I am wondering what exactly you are looking for)

This is a great idea Kim, I hope there are enough people that are interested to help out to make it go smoothly!
