I purchased a 07 Camry Hybrid a few months ago....I downgraded from a gas machine 01 Ford Excursion. I filled up Sunday (6/1/08) and I'm still above half a tank. Do we have anymore Hybrid owners? If so, what model and comments on your hybrid.

We purchased an 1800.00 extended warrany.....I sure do hope its worth it

I am also looking forward for the responses. DH just now called and inquired and the dealers said that they were available for 22K, pre tag and taxes. We are thinking of trading our tiny Volvo S40 and getting a hybrid.

You say you filled up on June 1st and still have over half a tank left, but how much driving did you do? What I'm asking is how many miles/gallon does it get? I drive a Honda (regular) which is fuel efficient but I hope to one day have a Hybrid.

We have two hybrids now. My dh has a 2008 Prius and gets about 49-50 mpg. He drives a lot, so this helps. I have a 2006 Mercury Mariner and I've just ended the school year to be a SAHM (hoorah!), so right now my driving is more limited. I still get around 30ish mpg since mine is bigger than the Prius. We still choose which car we take on weekends based on how far we are going so we can be the most efficient. Although, when the twins are born, we will be using the Mariner more since it is bigger.

We will always have a hybrid now. My dh has been preaching the need to do something about gas for three years. He read a book a few years ago about oil production and has been nervous about it ever since.

Is that for a 2008 or 2007 ? and what are some of the features?

I paid 24K pretax but that's including free leather seats for a used 2007 hybrid.

I'm wondering If i could have gotten a better deal.

We looked at the Prius about a month ago and we were told it would end up being around 25K to 30K and there was around a 3 month wait. Basically pick what package you wanted and hope it ends up in a color you like when your name comes up. We just couldn't justify it. My husbands Kia Spectra gets around 27mpg and my Kia Sedona is paid off. We figured if we traded in his car or my van it would take us close to 5 years to end up even with gas at $6/gallon. We'll just hang on until the van needs replaced...hopefully there will be more choices then.

It was a 2008 model - basic car with absolutely nothing fancy as leather seats, sun roof etc. DH wants something fuel efficient for his 6 mile commute.

We never thought of an used one. Maybe we should check into those. If it is so good, then why are people selling it?

I just saw this post. My dh and I are thinking of getting a hybrid down the road. I found this article interesting though for anyone looking into a hybrid. Although they are more efficient with gas, some of them it seems are still not worth purchasing due to needing to keep the vehicle so long to actually see a return on your purchase though there seems to be a few that are worth it.

I thought this article may be helpful for those of you looking at purchasing one.
