If you live in a hurricane zone, have you gotten your supplies ready? What are you stocking up on?
We had 2+ weeks with no power in 2005 and since then I have changed a little with what I buy.
Here's what i have: batteries, every size;extra bulbs for flashlights; water (still getting this together, I buy 4 jugs a week); capri suns, juiceboxes;powdered milk;paper plates, napkins, cups, tp, paper towels, a big case of plastic spoons and forks and knives; big packs of the pb crackers snacks;crackers; a TON of cereal;pb;tuna, tuna, more tuna;canned fruit, pudding, and applesauce in the individual sized cups;3bean salad;individual packets of ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish;german potato salad in cans; first aid and hygeine stuff (wipes, etc)
The one thing that I decided to do different is that I buy the snack size things becuase if we don't have to use our supplies, I can put them into lunchboxes once hurricane season is over. I used to balk at buying so much stuff but now when I figure I'll use it anyway, I don't feel bad about it.

We have extra charcoal and lighter fluid and store extra ice since we have an extra fridge. We don't buy the ice, we just empty our ice maker when it gets full. We figure we can melt ice to get drinking water if we need it. Plus, if a hurricane is coming, we will fill up every available container (tubs, sinks and washer included - they are for toilet flushing and hand washing only). And we normally have enough non-parrishable food on hand to last a few weeks plus food in the freezer that we can cook within the first few days.
Plus we have batteries, flashlights, first-aid supplies, toilet paper, etc.
We've been through a few hurricanes in our lifetimes and feel we are prepared for another but hope it doesn't happen anytime soon.

Yesterday there was a waterspout (tornado on the water) that came close to shore, but that was south of Boca/Delray. Not sure what else it could've been???

Hi there we are new to FL. Do you have any good suggestions for things to make sure we have. Or any suggestions on where you store everything. I have been told the powdered milk is the best thing to have. I have started saving all the individual packets from fast food.

I would suggest a few good flashlights and lanterns, along with a ton of batteries. A radio is a necessity. A battery powered TV is nice to have.
There is a guide in Publix (Free) that will give you a good idea of how to prepare.
Once we get into August and September, if I hear there are storms out in the ocean, i start keeping my gas tank filled all the time, just in case. You don't want to be at a gas station when a storm approaches. Been there done that and the lines are a nightmare.
Hopefully we won't need to use any of our preparations
