While I am all for some of this if you did this way he described you would cause an accident in a large city and people would run you off the road. LOL I am being serious I was trying to do this just a little the other day and people were driving faster than normal on this particular strip of freeway - this was a slower freeway in town than most around here and most drivers were going well over 70 or 75. It seems around here people are so mad about gas prices that they want to get out of their cars as quickly as possible - or it sure seems that way. I know on the surface streets where this would be the most helpful people are driving crazy lately - much faster accelerations and such (granted this is a hard habit to break).

This is something that just drives me crazy. It just seems that with everyone so upset about the gas prices they would be driving a little less aggressively. I read a study recently that reported if you don't drive aggressive you can actually get up to 37% more gas mileage! After much fussing, my husband has finally seen the light and slowed down. He said it's so hard on the way to and from work b/c his male ego gets in the way and he feels the need to cut off the jerks. I think I said something along the lines of "so, you're wasting your gas and our money so that car doesn't get in front of you?...Seriously?"

I totally agree that we should be slowing down but at the same time I don't want to get into an accident because some moron runs into me. I am trying to slow down on the freeway and do some of the things in this article in addition to just driving less and being more carefull I think it is foolish not to. I know before reading this I had no idea you could make that big of a difference in your fuel consumption.
