What are your frugal family plans for the week?

My oldest will start day camp as planned, but almost everything else I had planned for the girls has been cancelled due to flooding. Hopefully at least one of the libraries opens this week. If the weather is still nice we will walk to the park. Wednesday evening the kids have book club at church.

We are staying home tomorrow to conserve gas. On Tuesday, we're combining a trip to Walmart, Target and Michael's (returns at WM and Tar) with a doctor's appointment. DD has school Wed and Thursday a.m. and her preschool graduation is Friday night. As a treat, we're going to Friendly's for dinner Friday. Sat. a.m., DD and I are going to pick strawberries to freeze and make jam. Yum!!!

I work M-Th, 9-1 this week. We will actually be getting stuff rounded up for our trip to go see grandma (mil) and the kids will be going to her church's VBS. So besides laundry and keeping the house clean, the kids are gonna help me clean out the van for our trip. I did find a FREE summer day camp for ds1 that is all summer M-F 8-3:30. That does start for him tomorrow. I am super bummed that ds2 is not old enough to go. I know he will be really sad. But by ds1 going this summer than next summer they both have dibs on a spot. Tuesday ds2 will still go to the library for that program. I think at least one day this week we will go swimming. We will leave for our trip early afternoon on Sat-just me and the kids are going, dh has to work all week.

Tennis lessons start this week and they still have soccer, swimming lessons and band lessons. Plus we hope to get our pool set up this week. We will do the library as usual and there is a craft program there on Wednesday. They will also earn their first prize for the summer reading program.

Tomorrow I have a park play date, and then in the evening I won tickets to a sneak preview of Get Smart, so all free except the gas to get there (and I will bring my own snacks ). Thurs. there is a puppet show at the library and Fri there is a festival at a fun free farmstead (animals, farm, and historical exhibits throughout). I may also go blueberry picking this week too.

My washing machine broke though, so this week will not be as frugal as I would like! Today though I'm washing my clothes at my parent's house while the kids play in their yard. Today at least will be frugal until DH and I make the big decision about which one to buy. Ugh.

We're supposed to have unseasonably cool temps this week, with lower humidity, so the A/C will be getting turned off!!
Monday: staying home, housework & laundry, reading with the kids, and helping the kids straighten up their rooms, etc.

Tuesday: staying home again, will do work in the yard, kids will have time to work in their summer workbooks & reading time, packing snacks & drinks for Sarah's ball game, supper at home.

Wednesday: kids dental cleanings, going to Barnes & Noble, lunch out with kids, going to bank, picking up groceries, home to get ready for Andy's ball game, eat very quick supper, pack snacks & drinks for game.

Thursday: staying home until Sarah's ball game, doing laundry (again), kids will do work in their workbooks & reading time, take out trash, declutter some in kitchen, get ready for Sarah's game, eat a quick supper, & pack snacks & drinks for game.

Friday: FREE DAY for kids (they can watch tv, play, etc.) after their chores, laundry, finish declutter in kitchen, work on next week's menu plan & store list, bill paying, vacuum & dust.

Saturday: Andy's ball game, home for lunch, finish up any leftover laundry, work in garden, supper at home, & relax

Sunday: NOTHING planned. I'll make a big breakfast, and clean up afterwards, and then maybe watch the NASCAR race, and relax.

Wow lots of fun things going on this week for some of you - I may have to steal a few ideas.

This week I am planning meals from our freezer and pantry - trying to use things that have been in there a while - so tonight we are going to have shrimp fried rice, tomorrow we are going to have eggs and some kind of sausage no idea what kind as I didn't lable it - opps. Not sure about the rest of the week but again it will be something from the depths of our freezer - maybe a pork roast (but maybe not - don't want to heat the house up that much).

Today I am planning on doing a few crafts with DS when he gets home from preschool - hope he gets as excited as I am - usually he does. Also need to plant a few pepper plants and start some seeds for pumpkins in the window garden - probably could move them outside at this point now that I think about it.

Tomorrow a freind is coming over early afternoon and we will visit - so looking forward to this. Talked about going out to lunch but figured this was much easier and less stress - DS % wouldn't have had much fun and we wouldn't have either.

Wed - no plans in the afternoon - may have to do a picnic or dig out the inflatable pool for DS as it is getting hot here.

Thursday - we are going to a freinds house for a playdate - so looking forward to this (except the gas money - she lives an hour away)

I think this week DH and I will have at least one movie night as he got a couple of DVDs for Father's day and there is nothing on regular tv and I don't think I have any DVDs coming this week from the library. May have to make some popcorn for this (again digging deep into the pantry).

I love what someone mentioned - story time at the grocery store - wow what an awesome idea - shopping while the kids are having fun. Right now I do it while DS is at preschool but after next week I won't have that luxury. The only store around here that does that is Ikea and well I don't need to shop there so ...

Next week is VBS so that should be intersting - DS is scheduled to stay at preschool for 3 days and then go to VBS - I so hope that works out as it is cheaper for him to stay than for me to drive back and forth between the two events. We may stay for dinner at the church as well - depends on how well he does and how tired he is.
