I hope I am posting this in the right forum but help!!! My DD keeps wearing more of her food then she eats and it somethimes gets past the bib and on to her clothing. I cannot afford new clothes, and I hate stains. Any ideas on how to get them out. I have tried a bucket in the laundry rrom with Tide in it, we throw all really soiled clothes in it until wasing. I have also tried Spray and Wash thanks

My best thing was the Spray and Wash stick (NOT the spray) which you apply to the stain while it is fresh. You can then wait to launder for a few days. I get both sides of the clothing.

Another thing I found works well is Zout. I don't know if they have that everywhere or not, but it has helped get stains out that other detergents won't tough.

Either Oxyclean soak or Zout works well. If it is orange, red or purple (sweet pot. carrots. tomatoe based strawberry, etc.) Try HOT HOT HOT (I mean as hot as you can stand it) water and scrub these are the hardest to get out and they stain the worst in my exp. Good luck!!

Another method you can try for removing baby food stains is to lather the stain with shaving cream. You can put the shaving cream directly on the stain and let it soak for approximately 30-60 minutes. You will want to make sure that you use foamy shaving cream instead of the gel shaving cream. After the shaving cream has set for a while, rub the stained area and then rinse. If the stain is completely gone, you can then wash the clothing like normal. If the stain is still there, you can repeat the above steps in order to completely remove the stain.

Hydrogen peroxide and water can be mixed together to help remove baby food stains. Use 50 percent water and 50 percent hydrogen peroxide. Spray the mixture on the stain and let it stand for approximately 30 minutes. You will then want to rinse the stain with a mixture of 50 percent water and 50 percent vinegar. After the garment is completely rinsed, you can then launder as normal.

There are a variety of store products that work great on baby food stains. You can pre-treat the stains with either Shout or Zout. You can then let the garment sit for a while and then launder as normal.

Casscade- the dishwasher detergent. It works GREAT, just buy the powder, make a paste with it, scrub it on, then wash it as normal.

Nature's Miracle really works well on this. It's marketed as a pet odor/stain remover. You can buy it in pet food stores. (Get the liquid form.) It contains an enzyme that breaks down proteins.

*Another TIP, don't put the article of clothing in the dryer until you get the stain out otherwise you have set it in and won't get it out.*

The best thing I have found to work on most every stain is baking soda and vinegar. Use 2 cups of vinegar and 1 cup of baking soda to a load of laundry. Cycle the machine on heavy for 10 minutes and then let the clothes sit overnight in the water. In the morning restart the cycle for 10min and let the clothes go.

You can change the amounts of vinegar and baking soda to suit you but that seems to be the best for me.

I use the Oxy too. I fill my washer on a small load with HOT HOT water, and dissolve the oxy in it. I soak my clothes for a long time. If its a tomato sauce stain of something of that nature, usually if you put it in direct sunlight, you can bleach it out that way.

I also use Dawn. I just spray it directly on the clothes and scrub as hard as I can with a brush. That will usually work too essp if its a grease based stain.

i use sunlight dish soap( yellow bottle)...wet the stain and pour a bit on and use a nail scrubbing brush to work it in...let it sit 20 minutes then wash it with other clothes..it got all the stains out and still works.

I had to scrub the stains with dawn detergent and then soak them in a large bucket with HOT water and Biz powder. The only other thing that worked for me was the spray and wash STICK, not the spray. I bought the spray and ended up having to throw away several badly stained bibs, clothes, that the stains were set in and would not come out! Also, you can try to find some of the larger vinyl bibs, they cover better than some of the cloth bibs, and are much easier to clean up afterwards. I found several at Walmart and Target carries them too I think.
