Today will be the test to see if I cave and start the central air. So I thought we would brainstorm a list of things you can do to make yourself feel cooler while still saving money.

-Turn off the lights.
-Play downstairs.
-Today I'm in shorts and a sports bra to clean.
-Drink ice cold drinks.
-Popsicles
-Ceiling fans

I read last year to go outside in the heat for ten minutes..and then come back in. It is amazing how much cooler your house feels once you come back in!!

Run your wrists under cool water for a few moments. It's amazing how much this will cool you off. Also, I keep a face mask and a wet washcloth in the fridge. Those are great for when you get too hot and need to feel cool quick.

this is kind of the same as the last post but I'm gonna add to it. I saw on a "golden girls" episode (yes, I watched Golden Girls) where the mom put her unders in the freezer to put them on when it was hot out to feel cool. Also, keep your lotions in the fridge so after a shower or bath, you can instantly cool off. I do this w/ my after burn stuff for sunburns and it works wonders.

On really hot days when we can't make it to the pool I will turn the sprinkler on and run through it with my kids (Hey- I will do anything in efforts to cool myself down!)- we only leave the sprinkler on for about 15 minutes when we break it out.

It always seems like when I apply lotion and sit in front of a fan that it cools me off faster than anything.

Sometimes I take one of those squishy gel cooler things out of the freezer and hold it on my neck.

Also, do housework that warms you up (like running the vac) early in the day when it's cooler.

Make sure sunny windows are covered.
