What Motivates you to stay frugal?

For me it is
Searching for a good deal
Putting every penny I don't save into savings and watching it grow
Living simple. The more I do for myself and rely less on technology of sorts I feel more empowered.

What about you?

The alleviation of future stress is my greatest motivator. This ties into paying for current and future international adoptions. I am so glad I found this site.

For me, it's watching our savings grow, even if it's only by a few dollars. The other thing that keeps me motivated (even though sometimes I get way off track), is my family...especially my husband. I just want to make him proud of me, and to do the most with the money he works soooooo hard for. I've not always been the best at that!!

Watching our debt shrink and our savings grow. Teaching my children that debt doesn't have to be the way. I also am enjoying less stuff. Sounds weird I know but less dusting and moving around things is making me very happy.

My family...making sure we are able to provide for ourselves and not have to depend on anyone.

I am also motivated by the fact that I really do not want to go back to work fulltime unless I want to.

seeing how much I can get for my money. I'm starting to love grocery shopping, and coming home and seeing how much I got that was within my budget.

Between tax returns and working all most fulltime hours for the past 5mths we have paid off all of our debt. It's a huge relief to not have that hanging over our heads now.I've even managed to put about $1,800 into our savings account. What motivates me to stay frugal and control any impluse buys is remembering back to this past summer/fall when we were barely holding our heads above water and just drowning in our regular monthly expenses. The stess of it all was just making me sick. I don't ever want to be in that situation again. So now when i am out shopping and i spot something i am tempted to buy, i tell myself " remember when?" and think how many hours of work i would have to put in to pay for it. That keeps me in check!

Financial freedom motivates me the most. I want to be able to do, be, have, and give away whatever I want freely and with a joyful heart. The closer we get to that point, the easier I am breathing, and it feels wonderful.

The secondary thing that motivates me are the positive feelings I get when I do-it-myself, whether it be cooking, baking, home improvement projects, sewing, etc. It's good to feel like I know what I'm doing, and teaching my children the same. I'm proud that they like do-it-yourself projects as well. I think most of our projects allow us to be pretty creative, and that's fun.
