I don't feel badly about it at all.

I have a maid once a week.
I have a yard company once a week.

It saves arguments and we have a nice yard and a clean home.

I save in other areas so I can afford this

No problem at all here. I found an excellent handyman and I have him do most of the honey do list now so it will get done. We live in the city so he does things really cheap.

For example:
- cleaned gutters
- sealed motar crack in our rock foundation
- baby proofed all of our cupboards
- replaced 3 outlets
- replaced a florescent bulb
- replaced 3 pieces of drop ceiling
- put magnet latches on cupboard
- got rid of a bees nest
+ 3-4 things I can't remember for a total of $150 (we bought supplies separatley)

Definetly worth it to have my husband spend time with us during the weekend. I stand firm on not hiring someone to mow the lawn though since other than work it is my husband's only chore around the house.

Exactly, sometimes it's cheaper to get a professional in first time.

i used to, but as i have more children, get older and our space gets smaller...i am willing to hire people to help me out, even if it's something i can do myself.

i am SO considering hiring a maid service to come in and scrub our walls, windows and blinds from top to bottom. i also want them to clean all of our moldings and doors.

i can do that myself, but goodness it would take so much time and energy that i'd probably be angry later.

some things are worth the help, even if you can do it yourself, you may not do as good a job.

and like julie said, it is a form of giving back.

i so wanted to hire someone to cook us dinner, just until hubby came home too. but i can't afford that.

We like to do as much as we can ourselves. That said, I don't enjoy washing my van when it's cold outside. I'll drive it through a car wash and then come home and vacuum it myself. I read that car washes are also the "greener alternative" because they recycle water, whereas I don't (so that's my justification )

For us, my husband knows a couple guys at work who've helped us out a few times. My husband travels for work on & off, so when he's gone someone he knows will come & mow our yard as a favor. Other than that, we don't hire out work unless it would be something we couldn't do. Although I will say I watched a video online on how to fix our washer & ordered the parts & did it once. And for my SUV, I get the oil changed at a service place. I always try & do other things around home myself. Like 2 days ago I borrowed a neighbors electric hedge trimmers & trimmed our hedges, then yesterday woke up with a sore/stiff back, but at least the job is done!

As for eating out- well that's my biggest weakness.
