With all the great bargains on school supplies, it's the perfect time to stock up. Besides for school, how do you use them?

*Glue Sticks - They're acid free, so great for use in scrapbooking, cardmaking.
*Notebooks/composition books - I use these for my daily to-do lists.
*Crayons/markers - great to have on hand if you have small kids. Save some for stocking stuffers, Easter baskets, birthday party favors, etc.

Markers and crayons for coloring and craft projects.

Spiral notebooks: I write down recipes I want to try in them. I get the Taste of Home magazines from the library or from my mom, and then I just write down the ones I want to try. I also have notebooks dedicated to kid's craft ideas I come across and frugal tips.

Crayons are 20 cents at walmart this time of year so we buy 50 boxes and get dollar store curling ribbons and tie on them for party favors for both kids. They take these to school on their birthdays to hand out to their class instead of sweets etc. and the teachers love it because it gives the kids new crayons mid way through the school year and its not useless junk that will be thrown away. 50 boxes is $10 and it would cost more than that to send other treats for all those kids! We also get the washable markers when they are 88cents and buy like 10 some for home, some for stocking stuffers. Sometimes if I have enough cash on hand I buy extra crayons, markers, construction paper, glue sticks, scissors etc., playdoh and put together in cutre dollar store bags to use as gifts when my kids go to birthday parties. It turns out to be about a $7-$10 gift and every parent we've ever given one to their kid at a party is thrilled and thankful that its not useless junk. We also do this for girl scouts as we do a christmas gift exchange too.

That is such a great idea for little gifts to hand out around bdays! I think I will do that. Ds1 could do it for his bday and ds2 could do it around Xmas time since his bday is in March. Also love the idea for gifts to give at bday parties. THANK YOU!

I buy glue sticks, crayons, markers, highlighters, dry erase markers, folders, stamp markers, glitter glue, etc. all on sale and then toss it in a big bag to give to my girls' classes for an X-Mas gift. We still do a small gift for the teachers too, but we have always gotten wonderful thank you notes for doing a large class gift instead. I usually throw in some new books for the rooms as well. It has been very well received in the past.

I normally end up buying lot more than what's on the supply list, mostly double of what I have to buy, and give it to the teacher, because not all are able to buy ALL the supplies, so it really comes in handy for the teachers and students. Or I'll just keep on hand and have always made the goody bags with school supply stuff. NO CANDY!!

You could have the kids play teacher or preschool at home with school supplies.

Since you "need" to get new crayons at the beginning of each school year- the left over crayons we began to melt them down for a new crayon. For Christmas we made Christmas trees for my youngest classmates and the year prior we made heart crayons for Valentines Day.

I bought extra crayons this year because I plan on putting a box of crayons in each of my niece and nephew's christmas gifts story sacks. I picked up some colored pencils that isn't needed as we have tons but I am going to put them in my oldest dd's art tote that I'm making her for christmas. I wish I would've picked up more notebooks as my dd's have been using theirs to draw in, instead of my printer paper..THANKFULLY!! hehe!!

These are great ideas!
Back before I was frugal, I was at a loss one year as to what to get an 8-year old nephew for his birthday. I ended up getting him some notebooks, crayons, colored pencils, etc. (I probably paid full price back then, sigh.) Anyway, he proclaimed that that was his favorite birthday present ever.
