Since I am not working at the moment, I plan on freezing a lot of veggies for the winter. My problem at the moment, is that I don't have too much room in the freezer. Guess we will have to eat up the larger items.

I try to buy only when things are on sale and to make a lot from scratch.

I also try to make some Christmas gifts as well as making gift bags to give or to reuse for home for Christmas. I use old cards to make gift tags.

This year, I am hoping to make gift jars for a few people using old jars that I have saved.

Just hope that I can get it all done in time.

Great thread!

I make all my own cleaners and all my own baby food. I grow a garden and freeze all kinds of fruits and vegetables that come right out of our yard. I am going to attempt to make laundry detergent this week. Wish me luck. I welcome any tips. Thank you.

I make a "soft scrub" type cleaner using baking soda and dawn detergent. I make homemade corn tortillas and you can also make your own taco shells this way as well. I have also started making some homemade noodles and freezing them. I also plan on making another batch of pancake mix, and sometimes I also make baking powder drop biscuits. We make our own teriyaki sauce as well. That's all I can think of right now.

I make all our cookies, muffins, desserts from scratch (expect I buy a pack of Oreos every once and a while). I've been making whole wheat bread by hand, but am trying to decide if a bread machine would make it easier. I also don't buy packaged meals, it's just as easy to make it from scratch!

I know it's an obvious one but lunches. We used to buy packed lunches all the time out of laziness, no more!

Hi -- I'm sorry, but I've been puzzling over this all morning ... what do you mean by "packed lunches"? Something you buy that already has the whole lunch in it? Sorry if that is a dumb question, but I just had to ask. Thanks! and I'm glad you're saving money doing it yourself now.
