Actually, I think the beef cuts we get are really good. Most of them are very tender, and I like that they're individually vacuum packed so they last longer. I've never gotten a bonus box of meat, so maybe that's where you've found the kind-of-chewy meats. The bonus boxes most of the time don't seem like a good enough value for me, but we have a really good discount grocery store that has awesome meat prices here, so 9 times out of 10, I can beat the prices of the bonus box by just shopping there. As for the normal box, we've gotten it a lot. The food is really good. I kind of thought it might be low quality, but it isn't. They do have a good bit of chicken, but I throw about half of it right into the crockpot with some chicken broth and cook it until it falls apart, then strip the meat off, portion out and freeze for later use (chicken pot pie, chicken & dumplings, soup, casseroles, pizza, chili, stir-fry, stuffed peppers, fajitas, etc). We don't necessarily eat all of the food from the box within the month we get it, but it does very well to supplement our groceries some months. I'm a fanatic about prices per # and know the comparable costs of groceries pretty well, so I look at next month's menu online and calculate real quick whether or not it's worth ordering. Some months yes, other months I can get the same staples offered (meat, etc) in the store for the same price or cheaper. Oh, and you can't be brand sensitive.. because most of the time you don't get "Jell-o" pudding -- you get the no-brand stuff.
