We do the same. The ttheater around here has movies on Fri and sat before 12 for $5. So the girls and I hit that. I also stick candy in my purse. wrong I know but oh well.

We don't go at all. Ever. I think the last movie we saw in a theatre was Xmen 2. No joke. We watch all of our movies at home where we can be really comfortable.

My husband and I rarely go, when we're out we'd much rather have a quiet dinner where we can talk. We do take the kids every few months, when some big kid movie comes out but that's a treat so I don't worry too much about the cost. Several different theaters do the free movies in the summer so we try to do that often. We also try to go to the drive-in a couple times a summer. I wouldn't mind bringing my own popcorn to the drive-in but my husband insists that the popcorn they make tastes so much better. We do bring our own beverages and candy.

We usually wait for them to come out on DVD. I go with my husband a few times a year. Rarely take the kids to a full price movie. Once or twice a year we take them to the 3 dollar movie theater, which only shows one movie a night, and not every night, because it is not just a movie theater, but a sports center and has plays and concerts(not 3 dollars). And it is not always a family friendly movie.
My teenage son on the other hand, goes to the movies at least once a month.
There are quite a few movies that come out around Sept 26 that I would love to see. I will have to talk hubby into taking me to see at least one of them

Where we lived before, going to the movies was our primary entertainment because there were 5 theatres within 15 minutes of us. We probably went 3-4 times a month, mostly matinees with no refreshments.

Since we've moved to the country, we Netflix most things now. Although, we will still go to the "action/blockbuster" movies because it really is more exciting to see them on the big screen.

In the summer, there is a drive-in movie for $6 a person and you get two movies, one at dusk and one at about 10:00 (the mgt is okay with you bringing your own food/drinks in too)

Also, occasionally we will go to the second run $2 movies. You can get a box office package that includes two tickets, two drinks, and a large popcorn with free refills for $11.50. That is a good deal.

Our theater has a $5 movie club, and most first run movies qualify after they've been out a few weeks. So, if we go, we go then and bypass the expensive concession stand.

We just hit upon a great deal, I dontknow if it is in other states, but we have Cablevision and they have rewards card that you get if you have their TV/Phone/internet, which we do. Anyway they have a deal that every Tuesday you get 2 free tickets at the Cleareview Cinema Chain in NJ!!! we have watched, Batman, The Mummy, Walle, Swing Vote, Journey to the Center of the Earth and a few more, we take turns who goes and then buy small popcorn/drink. that has saved us a lot of money, then if we want to all go toegther, we can get a diso**** on the tickets about 4 bucks each!!!

We very rarely go...and when we do, it is the $5 early Sat or Sunday ticket. Things come out on DVD so fast, sometimes it's worth the wait.

We haven't gone to a movie in forever. I can't even remember the last movie we went to. We have a drive in theatre here that is $5 for adults and $2 for children so we can go there alot cheaper. This summer, though, they haven't had any really good movies to show there.

The matinees, I have found, are only about $.50-$1 cheaper than going in the evening time. Either way, we end up spending $50 for me and the two kids. It's obviously more if dh and his kid goes too.

We wait until they go on dvd and then rent the dvd for .99. I do like going to the theatre but I hate the price.

We rarely go to movies, I can't remember the last we went as a family, we wait till it comes out on DVD and then we either buy it or rent it. The kids on occassion go to movies with their friends.
