Do you still go and see a move in the big theatres, or do you wait until it comes out on DVD?

Theatres are definitely WAY better now than they were when we were kids. The seating, the screens, the sound, the theatrics, everything.....but is it worth it to take your entire family?

We rarely go to the movies but when we do we always go earlier than 6 so we get the matinee price(and I don't have to deal with the teenagers) and we usually get one big popcorn and a soda to share. We always eat beforehand so that no one is really hungry.

We only go for the really BIG movies that we want to see. We also go to a matinee. We usually save up for snacks in advance or go without.

We go to only 3-4 movies per year. And we always go on the weekends and in the afternoon, that way to save a few bucks. I do splurge on popcorn and a pop but everyone knows that they have to share and once its gone, that is it, no more. But we usually eat dinner before we go so that we are not all starving when we get there. So a big pop and a med. popcorn usually is just perfect.

We do vary rarely. I found that Regal cinemas had little specials here and there, like for members a free small popcorn on tues. During the summer they had free movies for the whole family at 10am on tue wen thur. They were older movies, but it was still fun!

Occasionally my dh will ask to see a movie. I'd rather watch at home. The last movie we saw in the theatre was Lord of The Rings, Return of the King.

we go to maybe 2 movies a year one with our older two boys(they are waiting until next june when transformers 2 comes out) and dh and i try to see one movie together a year. luckily dh gets off work at 3:30 so we can go to the rush hour shows wich is between 4-6pm its even cheaper than the matinee prices. otherwise we watch on dvd they are out most of the time in 6 months or less now.

We have a $2 theater here that we go to. The concessions are regular priced but when we go with our three older kids, we can do it on $20 so I figure that's pretty cheap. We get the big popcorn and they will put extra in little popcorn boxes for the kids and we share one big drink as refills are only a quarter.

We very rarely go and if we do it's to see a movie that 'has' to be seen on the big screen, something with lots of special effects. One large pop and popcorn to share and there are free refills, we probably refill about 4 times!! We don't rent dvd's, wait for them to come on cinamax.

We rarely go to the movies. My dh wanted to take my ds to see the clone wars a few weeks ago. So we all went. It was the first time in awhile. We bought 2 kids reel meal combos, cause you just can't go to the movies without getting the popcorn. But I have to say. I couldn't get past how dirty the seats and things probably are and prefer to make my own movie theatre at home.
