This is the first time I'm decorating for fall, and my decorating budget will ALWAYS be nill for many reasons--I'm too much of a tightwad, dh isn't passionate about a festive house, we're trying to save and pay down debt, etc. For ecample, I'm too cheap to buy a $3.00 scarecrow from Dollar General.
That hasn't stopped me, tho! Some thing I've done are:
1-- tie ribbon around the top of some clear fish-bowl candle holders LO from our wedding centerpieces and make a small runner out of LO leaf material to set them on;
2-- Get a few bouquets of fall-colored fake flowers and a little basket from the Dollar Tree ($3 total) and make a flower arrangement for the porch;
3, the most recent, and perhaps my favorite-- I got a $3 skein of 380 or so yards of orange yarn and gathered sticks from my yard and am making a ton of God's Eyes (you wrap the yard around the stick and it makes a diamond shape) and I'm hanging them all around my porch and outside my house;
4-- I got a potpurri (sp) mix from a yard sale for $1 and a bouquet of orange fake spider mums from WM for $1 and used a big vase I had at home to make a autumn-y centerpiece for the kitchen table.
I'm still working on everything. I plan to stuff old clothes for a scarecrow for our porch soon. I'm thinking of sewing a few more things, but am working on Christmas presents at the moment, so house decor has taken a backseat in my sewing room.
