I have problems buying stuff for myself also. My dh shops for me. He loves to shop and raids the clearance racks and then brings home things that he thinks will look good on me. Sometimes when we are shopping together and he knows I need something, he will entertain the kids and encourage me to go try something on. I usually talk myself out of most of what I try on. I have a 7 month old son and still have some pregnancy weight that I am hoping to drop, so I hate to buy too much right now.

I am terrible about taking time for myself and buying stuff for myself. My DH gets so upset with me. I have a couple of gift certificates to Dillards and Target that I had received as gifts for xmas and my birthday this year. Rather than spending on me, I am saving it for our baby due in a couple of months. We're not finding out the sex, so if it is a boy, I am going to use them to buy him clothes, since we don't have any boys in our family. If its a girl, well, I still have DD# 1 clothes all saved up.

My DH has bought me gift certificates to spas for mesages and some pampering in the past. I always end up waiting until they are just about ready to expire (usually a year later) before using them.

I can have 2.00 and want everything. But give me 100.00 and I can't buy those things.
I spend mine on the kids to. I enjoy it so much.I had been wanting tennis shoes for a long time and I saw polos on sale for 13.00 I almost didn't get them. And a pocketbook liz clairborne was 15.00 I looked for a month longing for it.But I bought it for ma's birthday!
and got me one weeks later for 5.oo at the dollar store. It's a struggle for me to! If I have the money to buy something I really want and it's higher than I like I won't get it!

I am the same way, I never buy anything until what ever I am needing is falling apart and then I still feel guilty. We were at Kohl's yeasterday looking for my brother a b-day gift and found my daughter and son a few things then I went to the womens and hubby found me 2 pairs of capris that he made me try on and they fit perfect- for $8 each and I found 2 shirst for $4 each, so I got 2 new outfits and they FIT..... I am still feeling guilty and thinking about taking them back. I don't know why I feel guilty-I work but I still feel guilty.

My mother was the same way, it is a meternal thing. My parents pinched pennies and went without for 25yrs, even after we were all married and children of our own they still lived like this. 3yrs ago my parents started talking about redoing their kitchen. They started in May of this year and it is finally finished. It took my mom that long to make herself relize that she deserved it. Their kitchen still had the original everything thing from when it was built in 1969..... It is gorgeous!!!!

I felt so guilty when my husband spent 300 dollars on a new Giant bike for my b-day. He told me that I deserved it and I never buy myself anything nice like it. I still felt so guilty though.

I am with you all. I won a $500 giftcard from a local radio station and I spent it on everyone else but me.

My birthday is coming up, and I am resolving to force myself to get a good haircut! Of course, with what's left of my birthday stash, I'm contemplating a frugal redo of the guest bathroom! Fun, but not "just for me," you know?

I'm as guilty as the rest of you!

My boss gives me a $250 GC for the mall every year for xmas and I spend VERY LITTLE of it on myself.....maybe I'll buy a purse (only if it's on clearance, of course!!!! I seem to always be able to find great purses on clearance at Kohls, by the way!) The rest of it is spent on the kids, or to buy last minute gifts for others!

I feel guilty if I spend on myself too. I think that part of my reason is that cute clothes for adults cost so much more (even on clearance) and I can always buy two outfits on clearance for my baby at the same price. I did finally splurge on myself and buy a betty boop watch for myself for my birthday. It was only $17 and at first I felt guilty and almost waited to see if it would go on sale, but then I told myself that I would have spent much more on a gift and party for my kids and I loved the watch and needed one. But I do need to get better about putting myself first, especially because I am the only one doing without and all the rest of my family has too much!
