I was stocking up at Aldi's today. I took $100 out of the ATM (that is my daily limit for the ATM). I filled my cart, but prices have gone up at Aldi's (like everywhere else) and I ended up with $120 dollars worth of stuff. I had $105 on me He told me its okay, you can use your debit card. Well I don't have a debit card So I had to put things back! Yikes, I think we are actually going to have to move into the 21st century and get one I was pretty embarrassed!

I told the guy that they should take checks and he looked at me like I was nuts and told me that will never happen.

That's happened to me also.

I thought once they started taking debit cards that I'd be okay. But once I went when I still feeling pretty queasy with morning sickness. When I tried to pay, I couldn't remember the PIN for my debit card. Total brain fog. If you enter your # incorrectly three times in a row, my bank freezes the card for the remainder of the day. I was pretty embarrassed that I couldn't remember, tried several times in a row and froze my card. My bank did not have a branch in that town to cash a check, so I ended up just going home with no groceries.

Maybe Cause I Worked in a Grocery Store this stuff Doesn't Bother Me.

Look at it this Way , even if you were With the 21st century and Had a Debit card.
They Don't always Work Due to Your Bank or the stores Machines.

LOL - We have a Pharmacy around Here that My Debit Card ( And All other peoples card From that Bank ) Works about 1/2 the time.

I Didn't Know Aldi's didn't Take checks! ... they are always My Back up after Debit!

Do they take Credit cards?

I'm always so afraid of that happening to me that I take along a small notebook, and write the prices of everything I put in my cart (rounded up to the nearest dollar). I still stop a few dollars short of what I could spend just in case I forgot to write something down, or added wrong. I usually get through the checkout with a lot of cash left over, and could kick myself for not picking up more items.

I love having the debit card, Happymom; I can also take out a little extra cash right there at time of purchase. Trader Joe's here still takes checks, but it goes to your account that night, so we don't bother.

You can also see if your bank will up your daily limit on the ATM. I was so mad when we were across country a few years ago, and, not knowing that there was a daily limit, tried to take out a few hundred over that. After finding out why it was declined, we asked them to raise the daily limit to a different amount (we got to choose the amount up to a limit) and haven't had a problem since - at least with that issue.

I have been pretty surprised at how high some of my ALdi bills have been lately....
