Hey! I do this with disposable plastic plates, cups, and forks at times because it's better for the environment. When it's too difficult or there are too many people, I toss them. We try to recycle the plastic we can after rinsing it.

I used to think this way then one day it came to me.....if I really wanted to be environmentally friendly then use real plates that I can wash all the time so there is no recycling and it is a lot cheaper. I only used the disposable when we have a ton of company. Sorry...didn't mean to offend ya.....

My grandmother cuts open tubes of toothpaste to get every last bit out.
She is very financially comfortable ~ but still does things like this.

I tell her I can get her as many tubes of toothpaste as she needs from CVS for basically free!

OMG! "You buy 2 ply toilet paper and make 2 rolls out of one" - my grandmother used to do this! I totally forgot about that.

My grandmother also used to go to bed at 4pm because she kept the heat in her house so low she couldn't warm up any other way. THAT is being too frugal. One year my sister took pity on her and bought her a down comforter. Well my sister was expecting a baby and the next time she saw grandma she was presented with a lovely baby gift of a crib-sized down comforter. My sister secretly checked my grandmother's bed and sure enough there was a perfect little rectangle cut out of the corner of the brand new down comforter.

OMG! That is too funny! My grandma only allowed each child to use 2 squares of toilet paper/wipe. I guess with 8 grandkids living close by, she went through a lot of TP...

Funny you mention that- My aunt's rule for her kids was 1 square for poops and 0 squares for tinkle. She wanted them to air dry. Now her kids are in high school and college and buy their own TP. That is why no of us wanted to visit her house as she lectured and checked your TP use.

You might be a little too frugal if ...

... you're reluctant to allow your child to spend their Webkinz kinzcash.

You might be a little too frugal if ...

... NOTHING you own matches.

If all the dishes and flatware you have are of different pattern.

If you clothes don't even match.

If you can't even find a pair of matching earrings.
