A suggestion for your friend...do an "ugly word jar". Give each child a stack of quarters..and everytime they say an ugly word, they put one of their quarters in the jar. At the end of the week, the child with the most quarters gets to spend his/her quarters AND all the quarters in the jar. It is a sure fire way to make someone talk nice the next week!!! (and EVERYONE including MOM and DAD can participate in this one!)

she is right about soap being poisonous...there was an Oprah show a few years back, where a mother put soap in her son's mouth and he was allergic and died. I would never put soap in my children's mouth. The quarter idea is great, I actually did this with my older two kids, but not because they were swearing, because I would slip up and I had to pay when they caught me...LOL. They got to spend the money and it made me watch what I was saying real quick...LOL. Also, I forget who said it...but not giving a reaction is key...once they know they won't get a reaction they should stop. I have also heard, from a teacher friend of mine, to say something else completely silly...like peanut butter or silly string....and it will take their attention to that silly word instead. Hope this helps...good luck to your friend.
