My dd just turned 5, and will also have accidents sometimes. Another mom went through this with her dd who is close in age. She took her dd to a urologist, and found out her dd was constipated. I have since noticed that Elise will have more potty accidents if she's constipated. At first I attributed it to her just being too busy playing and not paying enough attention to her body, but I was wrong. If she gets a little backed up, it's harder for their bodies to tell when their bladders are full. Everything is so close together in their little bodies. Just wanted to offer another suggestion, to see if something else could be causing the problem. Good luck, and I hope it gets better soon! Cleaning up potty laundry is no fun!

Thank you all for your replies. We went to the Dr. on Friday and did a urine sample. At that time he said there were trace amounts of blood in her urine, but that could be caused be a virus, like a cold even. She hasn't really had a cold lately, but I have and two of the kids I watch have had one recently.....Anyway, labs for the UTI were done overnight and if we didn't hear anything by the weekend, to assume it came back negative. I haven't heard anything, so I am hoping for the best. They do want me to get another sample to drop off to re-test, which I have to remember to do this afternoon...
Thanks again for all the input...and Artie, I had never heard about it being linked to constipation. I'll definitely keep a closer eye on that. So far, she's had no accidents in almost a week.
