It's hard to let them go. I held my oldest back a year because he wasn't mature enough to go, so I felt lucky to have that extra year with him. My youngest is such a responsible, smart little guy, there is no way I could have kept him back. It was hard being home without them. The thing that makes it okay is when they come running in the house all proud of themselves over something wonderful that they learned or did at school. They grow as little people in school, they learn more than just ABCs. Some of the things they have to go through are heartbreaking, like little meanies who hurt thier feelings, but with that comes such empowerment when they learn how to deal with it and get the upper hand (believe me, you will cheer when this happens). I think we grow somehow too, because what does not kill us makes us stronger and fear not, they are never to big to snuggle when they come home to you. It's terribly hard, but it will be okay (you will too).

Big hugs

I worried about this exact thing a few months ago. However, talking to other K-mom's they told me not to overschedule, and get all your shopping, cleaning, errands running, dinner made, etc. and your day will be done. Then you'll have time to do whatever they want to when they come home from school. I'm not worried anymore, in a way I'm looking forward to having more time to run around, exercise, or just to have a sick day when I'm sick. But the other half of me will miss ds terribly. He'll be fine...I'll miss him like crazy!!

I had to pull over in the drugstore parking lot next door to Riley's school on the first day! I bawled like a baby. I had left HIM bawling, so it was double tough. Funny enough, another mom pulled in minutes behind me. We both went in and bought CHOCOLATE to take home and eat while we waited for the school day to get over!!
Now, though, he LOVES school. He missed his first day today, as a matter of fact, due to strep throat. It is still hard sometimes to send him off, but to watch how he has matured, made friends, and discovered a world outside of home with mom has just been amazing. It all goes by so fast...take it from a mom of one who will graduate this year AND a mom of a kindergartner, too. (Plus four more!) Love them all you can while you have them...and thank God for them all the time!

I am really going to have a hard time when ds starts kindergarten in the fall. I am so worried about him. He started preschool this year. That first day was hard, I just drove around and shopped all day, I just could not go home without my baby there. Now I love it though, bu tkindergarten will be WAY different. I just don't know if I will make it.

I boohoo-ed when Carson started kindergarten this year. Pre-K didn't phase me, but this killed me. I cried as I watched his little body drive off with Daddy that morning. Oh, the heartache. I know it will be the same next year with Parker. Once Wyndser goes, I think I will need to harness a bucket to my chin for all the tears.

It is hard, but I know that it is the way it is supposed to be and they are developing into socialized, responsible, educated little beings. But, oh, the trauma for mommy!!
