Lightbulb When your child is ready for kindergarten, will you be ready to let him/her go?

As I sit here and endlessly research properties in OKC, and endlessly research various school districts, it occurs to me every so often THAT MY BABY WILL START PRE-K THIS FALL. He's been in a preschool setting since he was one and I have been ok with that. It's usually once or twice a week for about four hours each time. But this will at a "real" school with a "real" state curriculum. My BABY IS GROWING UP.

I have NO IDEA what I am going to do when my baby baby is ready to go to school. What in the world will I do with myself?

My ds will start pre k in the fall. He has never been in a daycare setting. Only with me. I am one of those mom's who's kids are never out of my sight. I can't go to the McDonalds and talk with other mom's and feel secure with him playing on the play area unless I can see him. I just keep getting this image of running around frantic having lost him. He is a very mild mannered boy, and if other kids bully him he just allows it, doesn't cry but just lets them do it. We are sending him to a private school and after visiting it and seeing how all the kids there are mild mannered like him that worry has been put to ease, but I worry now about just not being there and knowing every little thing that happened in his day.

You kind of have to let them grow up. I won't lie, I cried when my oldest started kindergarten and next year when ds #2 starts, I will cry again. I have already told my husband that when my dd starts kindergarten he had better take that day off work because I will be a basket case! I cry thinking about it!!!!

I can only imagine Claire. That will be a tough day for you. I too have NO IDEA how I will get through it either when both boys are in school.

When my oldest ds started school, I lost it! And that was with a baby at home to keep me busy! Next year, when my baby goes, and I'll be all alone, I just don't know what I'll do.

I cried when my ds started and ended preschool, but it was awful to send him to kindergarten, even though I still have one at home for a few more years. However he loves going to school so I adjusted. Its all okay but I love when they get time off, looking so forward to christmas break. Only 4 more days!

me too. I'll be sad and go home and cry in private(never let them see you cry), but I will also be very happy. :D
