I decided to try to stop saying "no" as often to my daughter. I am appalled at how often I've said "stop" "don't" "no" "be quiet" etc since the baby was born. Part of it is that she's had an extraordinary amount of attention, presents, and treats the past few weeks, so she's a bit bratty. But a lot is that I don't have enough time or patience for her.

I tried rephrasing it as a "yes" like I learned in Parent magazine (yes, you can have a cookie... after dinner!) but I've found that just keeping my mouth shut works perfectly fine. Most of the things I am getting on her case about are unimportant in the long run.

Hang in there, you'll both be ok. It's tough when you're completely zapped but you're aware and that's a very positive sign!

I remember that too when dd was born.. Oldest was so used to being one on one and not having to hush, share, etc.

do you have white noise for baby when he is asleep? that really seemed to help so I wasn't always so worried about baby waking up.

Swishina, I'm in the same boat as you. I find that I am constantly "getting onto" my youngest, who is 16 mos. old. He is at that stage where he is into everything, and I'm usually eyeball-deep in laundry or something when he decides to climb the walls. I think it's really having a negative effect on both of our attitudes!

I find myself doing that some days. It seems like those are the only words that come out of my mouth. And it seems like those are the days the kids act the worst.

He appears to sleep through anything, and I don't want to change that. It's me she's bugging with her noise!

It is amazing how another little person brings on so much more noise! LOL I am waiting for the 3rd to see how the noise increases again!
