We have a Halloween advent calendar. M loved counting down to Halloween so much that today we made leaves to count down to thanksgiving with. For Christmas we are planning to do a chain with an activity written on each link, like "drink egg nog" or "drive around to look at lights" or whatever.

We do St. Nick Night on December 6 where the kids put a shoe by the door and they get some little treat usually a candy cane and a small toy. It gets them excited about Christmas and is the day to talk about St. Nick the actual person and how he helped the poor. Tie it in with cleaning out some toys to take to Interfaith or Salvation Army and you are teaching them to give plus making room for new stuff they get for Christmas.

Hmm....nothing real different than what most people do. Getting together with family, making goodies together. Putting up a tree, stockings. Going to a church Christmas program. Opening one present on Christmas Eve.
I would like to start something new.

Someone was just telling me about Elf Magic. An elf comes in the mail on December 1st with a letter from Santa saying that the elf is visiting to see how your child is behaving. The elf can make mischief around the house or leave little letters or treats, etc. Then he goes home with Santa on Christmas Eve.
