ok, so my ds who is 3 stutters a bit, mostly when he is excited, sometimes when he isn't. would you get it checked out? its not a constant thing and you can understand what he is saying. but iwas wondering if i should get it checked out. what do you think? do you think its something he will grow out of?

Many many many three year olds stutter. I would not be concerned at this point if i were you.
I honestly believe he will out grow it. In my experience it is around three when this happens to alot of kids.

It is VERY common for kids this age to go through a stage of stuttering. My ds did also. Usually it'll clear on it's own in just a month or so. I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets much, much worse or it persists for a long time. Maybe next time your child has their yearly checkup mention it to your pediatrician, but I wouldn't make any special effort at this time to deal with it.

Even DD when she was 3-yrs old stuttered a bit and I would consider her very articulate (people even comment about how clearly and concisely she speaks). I wouldn't worry about it.

Their little minds work faster than their verbal skills sometimes, so it isn't uncommon for them to stutter. Don't sweat it. It may even happen for another year or so.

You can somehow look at the flap under their tongue and see if they are going to be studderers. I can't remember what to look for. My sister had to have hers cut when she was a baby or the doc. said she would studder. My mom noticed my dd's looked like my sisters, so I had her checked but the doc said it was okay. We just switched to a new doc. and he even noticed it and said it looked like that of a tongue tied person. She is now 8 and talks fine. I can't remember what about it looks funny. It's the thing that connects your tongue to the bottom of your mouth.
