While on the computer about an hour ago, my dd snuck up to my desk and ever-so-slowly eased my eyeglasses case off my desk. Immediately I asked her to put them back, but was too (darned) interested in what I was reading at the time that I forgot to make sure she DID put them back. Well...next thing you know I hear her crying and handing me the opened eyeglasses case with my NEW GLASSES in SHAMBLES!! I'm talking one lense was OUT, and the frame around where it goes was BENT!! These are the glasses I use to DRIVE WITH and to watch TV!!! (I have others for reading and being on the computer).

So, being an "already-too-leinient" mother, I decide to teach her a lesson in obeying your parents and grounded her from the TV just 15 minutes before her fav. show, Sponge Bob, came on. After 10 minutes of crying (during which I thought I'd completely lose my mind!) she came up to me and said, "You have teared my heart apart! You know that?"...Needless to say...that one's going in my journal for her!!

Oh no what a cutie though

My kids breaking my glasses has got to be one of my biggest fears. I only have the one pair and I NEED them to see. I am sure my day will come...better get another pair.

Yeah, a extra pair would be a good idea. I don't know what I'd do if the ones I'm wearing now got broken!! Go buy some from the dollar store, I guess...

I also just wanted to mention that my dd cried so much (about not being able to watch SBob) that she wore herself OUT! She's taking a NAP right now, which she NEVER DOES!! Hmmm...this "parental reinforcement thing" isn't half bad after all!!

ha ha. My kiddos have cried themselves to sleep because they were so upset about me reinforcing the consequences of their behavior. It works for me.

My DD broke my hubby's glasses once, the day that he got them back in the mail after having to send them off to get fixed after he broke them playing volleyball. He was not impressed. He sent them off to get them fixed again and then they broke again. Those frames are still broken in the case and he now has to wear these glasses that the lenses don't quite fit into right. Glasses cases are kept far from kids now!

My DH was able to fix my glasses last night. I never would have been able to fix them myself, I'm too blind!!

But, yes. Lesson learned. Glasses cases are NOT to be kept where little hands can reach them!! I think she learned a lesson as well...

DS has broken my glasses twice already. The first time he got them out of my purse. The second time he climbed up on top of our computer stand, stood on the desktop and reached to the very top of the stand, grabbed them, opened the case and snapped the arm off them. While I was in the shower. And DH was in the living room. Sitting on the floor. Like 3 feet from him. Supposedly "watching" him. :furious: I'm on my third pair and they stay FAR FAR AWAY from his little hands.
