The Lion King was hard for me and I was an adult!! (when Simba's dad dies). I also skip through the first scene of Nemo. NEither of my kids know they true beginning of that movie!

I also don't like the scarry scene in Toy Story (with the toys and the bully). Scarry scarry stuff.

funny but the death stuff doesn't fase(sp?) me. we've had many real deaths than to worry about a fake death. all my kids know about death from personal experince. I tell them that the movie deaths are fake.

I had tried to shield my son from the part of Snow White where the queen orders the huntsman to kill her and bring back her heart in a box. It's so senseless! But now that he's reading on his own, he is telling me that no, it's not the same book I read him before!

I actually haven't let my girls watch Pocahontas yet...seems to just have a higher level of violence than many of the other Disney movies.

My younger son (3) is the only one who really watches movies and he is EXTREMELY picky. If the movie doesn't have race cars, he couldn't care less.
So the only 2 Disney movies he likes are Cars and most recently, Herbie Fully Loaded. No, I'm not a Lindsay Lohan fan, but I didn't think the movie was so bad. He's only interested in the racing scenes anyway and Herbie's a cute little car.

I don't shield my kids from any of the disney movies. There are some that they haven't seen, but that is because I don't like the movie, like Bambi,Pocohontas, and some ohters. I also would never shield them from a death scene( they should see the truth, nothing lives forever).
But I also let them watch Lilo and Stitch( what is wrong with that show)?

I agree! Pretty much any of them my kids want to watch, they can!!! Heck, they have watched all of the Lord of the Rings movies with my dh and Star Wars and such. I don't think it has had any adverse effects on them. The only thing that bothered them so far is that my 8 yr old will not watch Jurrasic Park, it bothers him. All my other kids watch it with no problems. They know that they are movies and not real life.

Last night I felt like maybe I wasnt doing the right thing by letting my kids watch Disney movies, so glad to see I am not the only one. It never occured to me to ff the beginning of Nemo they know its a cartoon, therefore not real. Both boys love watching Lord of the Rings with their dad. They have seen all the Spiderman movies and we have explained to them that they are just movies not real life. They have seemed to grasp that just fine.

My opinion may change when my kids are older, but not at 4 years old and 2 years old. They watch them together.
