I wouldn't say anything either. I've known people who kept their kids in cribs for a long time due to not having a bed available. And their kids are fine now. I personally wouldn't offer advice or criticism to someone unless I thought they were doing something serious. This doesn't qualify.

People do what works for them. I would definitely not say anything, especially if she is a friend of mine. They will do what works for them. I'm sure they know they are not in the "norm" and for that, they are only creating their own additional problems.

I wouldn't say anything-maybe this works for them right now. Maybe she is not ready for a toddler bed or big bed. If she is happy, healthy & sleeping well that is all that matters. My dd was in her crib until she was 3 or almost 3. Just leave it be.

My son was in a crib forever (or so it seemed), just because we did not have a bed. He climbed in and out of it without a problem and never hurt himself. He is fine, it had no lasting effects!

My pediatrician has always told us to leave ours in until they become a danger to themselves by climbing, jumping, etc. Her words are, "If they don't try to get out, leave them in there until college!". Maybe she feels this same way? I pulled all of mine out before or right at 2 years. Usually it was because I needed the crib for the next baby (!), but the last one was because of JUMPING out while maintaining a hold with one hand..leading it a miracle that she never dislocated her right shoulder!

Well, I was going to say that I think you should have a non-offensive, non-blaming heart-to-heart with your friend. I had both of my girls toddler beds for their 2nd birthdays to go along with their "big girl panties" because we always started potty training on the day after their 2nd b-days. However, after reading all those posts from the other moms, I have jumped the fence and agree with them. As long as the child is not in danger, and it gives the parents peace of mind, then leave well enough alone.

Thanks, gals. I will keep my mouth shut. She is healthy and happy, I'll let it be.

My son just turned 2 in February and I have already had a friend act surprised that he is still in his crib. He does not try to climb out and he loves his bed. I just read in Parent's magazine that as long as they are not climbing out, most experts agree that they should stay in a crib until around age three. I am not going to rush his babyhood! I think I will casually mention that artice to my friend who acted surprised...

My first thought when I read it, was how does this affect you? In the case that it doesn't , I'd keep my mouth shut. Now if it did affect you, say if you were watching her overnight at their home or something and she was climbing out herself, then I would say something out of concern for her safety. KWIM?
