I got home from soccer practice last night with my older boys and dh informs me that our 4 yr old has been saying that there is something in his ear. We look in his ear with the flashlight and sure enough, there is something in there, waaaay in there!!!! So off we go to the urgent care, which, of course was very busy. The dr tried pulling it out, but could not get it and it was right next to the ear drum, so he did not want to dig too much. We ended up flushing the ear and it took a couple of times at that because the dang thing was so wedged in there!!! It was a small black, round piece of plastic. I have no idea where it can from or what possessed my son to shove it in his ear A few months back, he had to have his ear flushed and out came 2 sprinkles off a cake!!!! What is up with this? None of my other children ever put things in their ears!!!! UGH!!!!!!!

If it makes you feel better, he's not the only kid who ever stuck things in his ear. A doctor pulled green play-doh out of my ear when I was a kid.

My DH works in the ER and guess what he pulls out of ears and noses the most???

(drumroll...)

Googly eyes. Like the kind the kids glue on every art project at preschool. Crazy! He has also pulled tips of crayons, food (peas, corn, etc.) and a million other things out. I few other kids have also puts items in other...ummm...shall we say "southern" parts of their bodies. Yikes. (we will not even get into the bizarre things that adults have come in with...)

As soon as our first was born, he brought a pair of those alligator clips home so he would be able to "retrieve" stuff at home in case we had an ear-stuffer, which I am happy to say we do not. However, the youngest is not even 2 yet, so there is still plenty of time. She is quite a handful - maybe I should look for that...
