Do you allow your preschooler to pick out his/her own outfits for the day? How important is it to you that they match?
I watched a Wife Swap this last week and the mom inspected the outfits before the kids left the house to make sure they were devalicious (as she called it) She also plucked eye brows of all her kids so they wouldn't have a unabrow.

My sons rarely match perfectly. I try to not let them look silly but i don't care if they are little fashion plates.

No, I don't worry so much about it, unless we're attending a wedding or special function. Other than that I just demand they wear clean clothing. I do, however, encourage them to make good fashion choices, but in their eyes, the purple elmo top looks awesome with fluorescent green shorts and blue sandals....

I have lightened up a bit. I was getting really bad, right down to making sure thier shoes were approiate for their outfit, ya know, no sneakers with skirts! But I think I'm just getting tired, and a bit more layed back, because lately, that hasn't bothered me.

For a LONG time, I would go to the closet and pick out 3 sets, my girls would choose one of those sets. This way, I was still in charge of the outfits, and I know they matched, but they would feel like they had some control over it as well. This worked out REALLY well for a while, till they started telling me, "Where is outfit #4?? I don't like those...." ugh. Then it was my way or the high way.

I like for my kids to look good. They don't always wear name brands, but I like for them to match, and be presentable. I guess its just 'my' thing.

Right now my 3 year old will wear whatever I pick out for her. When she starts to balk at that then I will pick out 2 outfits and let her pick.

My ds is a jeans and t-shirt kinda kid(sweatshirts & long sleeves in cold weather) So, I usually let him wear what ever he wants, if we are going someplace special, I pick out what he's wearing. He asks me what to wear a lot too, like, "should I wear a hat?" etc. But those questions are only b/c of the ever changing weather here in Ohio!!

My little one is a fashionista. Not only do I not pick out her clothes in the morning, I don't even pick out her clothes in the store.

Only lately has she been relaxed about outfits to wear to school. She has let me pick out those mostly because if I do it she can sleep in. She changes into whatever she wants as soon as she gets home. I won't pretend that my picking out her school outfit will last long, however. She has her own style.

When she picks out her outfit, I do have the right to refuse and make her change. She's not allowed to wear an inappropriate outfit for the occasion (like a bathing suit to church or shorts on a very cold day). I also have the final say on what we buy.

She wears whatever I hang on the door the night before. As long as it is a dress, she will usually wear it. She only wears dresses or skorts (per her request) to preschool. Sometimes she asks for something different but she is good about matching. She will fuss at her Daddy for picking out stuff that doesn't match.
