A family member bought the baby version of the Leap pad for my son on his 2nd Christmas (he was 18 months). He showed absolutely no interest in it at all. I am considering buying the preschool version for the boys to share for Christmas, but after reading these posts, I'm not so sure. DS#2 enjoys a lot of the online games on Sesame Street's, Noggin's, and Nick Jr.'s websites, so we'll see. It won't be on the top of my list for Christmas gifts; if I run out of other ideas at that time and find it at a good price, maybe I'll get it. I will say this; my nephew, who is 5, has the Leapster, which someone else mentioned. It's sort of like a Gameboy. According to my sister, he absolutely loves it. I don't know if my kids are ready for that yet, so maybe I'll wait on that for next year.
Check the reviews on Amazon.com or ToysRUs.com - I gauge a lot of my purchases based on other consumers opinions.
HTH!

Jen

My kids love them! We use them in the evening when we need to get settled down and we also use them in the car on trips!

HAs anyone tried out the Little Leaps game system yet? My DDs are 3 and 2 and I am interested in getting them a learning game system but didn't know if the 3yr old was too big.

I totally agree! I love our Leapsters. My 8, 5 & 4 yo have had them for almost 2 years and play with them lots. They save their birthday & Christmas $ to buy cartriages for themselves.

I think it just depends on the kid. I bought my dd a Leap Pad when she was 5. She played with it for a few months after she got it, then it rarely saw the light of day. It now sits at the top of her closet collecting dust. She drags it out a couple of times a year and plays with it for a few minutes, but that's it. We only have about 8 books for it; I think she's bored of the books. I hesitate buying more books because they usually run about $15 a pop. My dd would rather go to the library and check out books.

I really need to get rid of this thing.

Yes, I have two of those, the letter factory, and something else with numbers.
