As I have posted b4 my dd 3 1/2 has refused to go potty on the potty chair. first she told me going potty in the pull ups is just like sitting on the potty. I explained it was very different she looked like she was giving my the hand without actually giving me the hand. then the other day she said "Mom, it is my decision whether I want to do it or not!" well, I am just praying she lives to be 4 and is potty training b4 the age of 4 as well.
It is payback time for me.

lol. wow! well at least she has a lot of personality! I'm sure it will come. Nobody stays in diapers forever.
Have you tried just making her wear panties and telling her she doesn't have an option? DS just got potty trained. We put him in training pants and when he would have an accident, we would clean him up and then do 5 practice runs: Take him back to where he had the accident and he'd have to tell us he had to go potty, then go sit on the potty for a few minutes. After a couple of days, it was too much hassle for him, so he started using the potty.
Good luck!

I think if my dd was so quick to have the answers. The pull ups would be gone and she would be wearing panties. I would stay calm and pleasant, but if she had accidents she would be helping to clean it up! JMO!!

thanks, I will try that. I do plan on the training pants thing in about 2 weeks after she is out of school and I don't have to go anywhere during the day. she is in control and knows it. I am trying to avoid the power struggle which she will win b/c I can't force her to go potty.
I don't know how to multiply quotes so I'll just add that I do plan on having her help clean up any messes.

Well, I had a little boy that refused to go poop on the potty. He would ask for pull ups and if we refused, he would just hold it. He kept getting stopped up and I have to put him on fiber to keep him from holding it and us going through all that again.... Anyway, one day he kept having accidents and I set him on the potty and asked him to please try to go. At first he refused and I said, just try and push or no more TV. He pushed and low and behold he did it......yeah......We have not had an accident since. Try the all day in underpants and see if it helps....By the way, mine was not completly potty trained until two months before his 4th birthday....I feel your pain.

Sorry, I can't edit, but I wanted to add that if this does not work, back off a couple of weeks and then try again. You are right about not winning, they are in control of this. Also, letting them run around naked.... was some advice from a friend. I never did it, but it worked for her...

Well it works for certain astronauts.....lol, sorry couldn't resist.
Just ask her what she wants to be when she grows up and then ask her if she thinks _____(insert career choice) is allowed to wear diapers to work?
Potty training feels like forever, but eventually she will get it.

My son learned real quick when i told him that mommy only had enough money to buy either pull ups or toys. When we ran out of the last bag of pull ups i gave him the option of buying more or having money to buy toys and fun stuff. He took the fun stuff.

You guys are so inspirational!!! My ds is really struggling to learn to use the potty. So, I decided that this is the week. (We have been trying off and on since November!) I set up a "potty station" in the bathroom complete with reading material, a few toys (to convince his to set there long enough), and a timer. The timer is set for every 30 minutes and so my days go by very slow when I have to stop every 30 minutes to take him potty. We are on day 3 and so far today he has stayed dry and was dry yesterday after nap. He wants to go to school and so we told him that boys that wear diapers don't get to go to school. Seems to be enough motivation for him!!!
