We have tried both the bath visor and the special shampoo rinse cup with the indentation/flexible plastic piece. Neither one has helped my daughter get over her fear of getting her face and head wet.(water and soap have also gotten aroound both of these devices). She is now 18 months and has always had this fear/anxiety. I see some good suggestions here though. I think we will try getting a spray attachment for the shower head and I will also try putting up some interesting stickers or posters on the bathroom ceiling. I know getting her hair washed is a must, but I really don't want the experience to be horrible for her.

I know my son isn't as old as your alls. But I understand your pain my 16 month old hates the sound of the bath tub running although he does ok once he gets in there for the most part he tries to climb out occasionally which freaks me out he still has a little fisher price bath and wont take a bath in just the big tub yet. When I wash his hair which I do it last so it seems to be less trouble he kinda shudders after I pour the water on him. So I think I am gonna see if I cant get the shampoo pitcher that ohmom recommended.

My ds really hated the whole idea of a bath including the hair washing. We always just tried to make it fun (lots of bubbles, toys etc), but we still had issues with the hair washing. Until one night I counted. It worked, now he knows that when I get to a certain number the hair washing ordeal is over. It really helped to make bath time better. So maybe this idea will help you also.

Try using the time to educate her as well. Put some foam alphabet letters or colors on the ceiling, then during hair washing time have herlook up at the ceiling and say the letters or colors, while you are praising her efforts her head will be tilted back, allowing you to wash her hair, and good luck... I have 3 boys and they all went thru it

We have a duck that hangs over the shower head and I tell the kids to look for the duckie and for the small ones that works long enough for me to get their hair rinsed. They don't mind having their hair washed but don't want the water in their eyes.

My dd was the same until I started making a game of it. We sing and dance (more like wiggle) to a song I made up about hair washing and to rinse it I turn on the shower and she loves it.

Even as a kid I hated to get soap or water in my eyes, my kids are the same. What did I do to get around it? I gave them a facecloth to cover their eyes. It's like playing peek a boo. Problem solved. then slowly get her to pretend to be like a star fish and lie back. show her that if she suck in air she'll float. Let it out...you get the idea. It's a game and who doesn't like to play? Bath time is no difference.

Be creative and you won't stress yourself out. Better yet, she won't get hurt.
