My daughter will be 2 on Sunday and I have been using Johnson's head to toe wash since she was born.
My mom noticed that she needs to start using a shampoo on a regular basis becuase the head to toe wash isn't going to cut it anymore. However, the few times I have done it by myself, she screams when I pour the water on her head and moves really quickly, wanted to get out of the tub. A few times she has slipped and i got her, but it freaks me out and her out and I don't want her to get hurt.

It is just really hard to get her to hold still or not cry when i wash her hair being a single mom and all. I finally got her to enjoy her bath, but now I need to figure out how she will let me wash her hair, without the fear of slipping or tears.
Any suggestions, I don't know what to do?

We play beauty salon alot and I have DD lay on the counter (even if it's in the kitchen) and I wash her hair over the sink with her facing heads up. Sometimes she uses a wash cloth to cover her eyes. I know that you can buy a visor so that water can't get in her eyes. Usually it's a faze they go through and it will get better. HTH

I switched to the J&J bath buddies(?) and they don't seem to bother her anymore than the head to toe. I've seen those visor things and recently, I can;t remember where, I saw a pithcer that had an indention so that when you pour the water over the head it doesn;t go in their eyes. I think it was at either Target or ToysRus.

I use the l'oreal for kids or the suave 2 in 1...DD has VERY thick, long hair. No tears at all...DS has taken to wearing his swim goggles in the tub and that's great, now there's no worries about it in his eyes!

Do not let her stand in the tub. I teach my boys to put their head back so the water does not get in their eyes when I spray their hair. If my grandson fights me, I just dump the water as fast as possible and rise it out. Then I explain to him that if he did not fight, it would not have gotten in his face. They get used to it and learn eventually.

I had the same problem with my son when he was 2 I bought the bath hats just for this I think at target. He now is 3 1/2 and doesn't need it. He now is really good at putting his head back and closeing his eyes.

the Loreal for kids is really good for thick hair! Also the johnson buddies has the pump shampoo that my kids love i let them pump some and put it in their hair themselves. Then i scrub it around make sure it clean and tell them to lean head back to rinse. My dd is great at this and no problems. My ds hates it but grudgingly closes his eyes.

You can get one of those foam or plastic visors (I know they sell them at Michaels, but they may have them at the $ store) and put it on her head, if she will let you. It should keep most the water/shampoo out of her eyes!
