We tried when our DS was just over two at grandama's insistance and it was terrible! He cried all the time, never went and I just thought this is nuts.

We started again this spring a bit after 3 yrs old. I let him run around without a diaper in the house and kept the carpet cleaner out all the time. He is really good at going now. He loves to go outside and we live in a very rural area where we need to go outside, even adults.

Every now and then he makes a mistake or waits to long. At nite we always use pull ups just in case.

That is how we did it, hope it helps.

I have a problem. My 2 yr old ds knows how to go pee in the potty, but he won't do it unless tell him to go and I go too. He is literally TERRIFIED of big boy underwear. He will scream and cry and literally shake. I do not preasure him to wear them. He will beg for his "bullup" until I let him have it. I have bought Nemo, Thomas, Nascar, regular white ones.... even bought toddle boxer briefs. He gets hysterical if he sees me pick them up... any suggestions? Could it be too early? He and I both went thru a rough year last year. Hurricane Katrina (we lives outside NO), death of my dad, I divorced my now exhubby, his dad was in Iraq. Should I wait?

I started, or should I stay re-started potty trainning DD last week (DD turns 3 tomorrow). I am just putting her in panties when we are at home and pullups when we go out or when she goes to sleep at night and at naptime. She's doing okay and not having alot of pee-pee accidents, mostly because I am constantly asking her to use the potty. And a few times, she's told me she's had to go. She has yet to poop in the potty, but will tell me once she's done the deed in her panties. One time, she pooped in her panties and while I was cleanning her up, she told me she had to pee-pee in the potty. .
